The brief Running High, the organisers of the iconic Bath half Marathon were keen to take the event’s profile to the next level. Although direct entry places being in high demand and guaranteed to sell out in days, their charity places are a little slower of the mark. The task in hand was to create a solution that would sell the double benefits of a charity place; take part in a gruelling physical challenge and raise some much-needed funding for charity partners. The thinking We quickly identified there are three key chal ..read more

Team content shares // week 47

Each week we gather together to discuss the content we’ve seen that has moved, inspire, frustrate or maybe baffle us – basically, make us feel something. We think it’s a good thing to share amazing content when we find it (with a few words on why).        IKEA – Silence the critics   Discovered by Adam I like this advert as it puts an alternative spin on the content we might usually expect to see at this time of year. I particularly like the combination of popular music, voiced through a collection of retro household items and trinkets. Feel: It made me genuinely laugh. The idea of an impro ..read more

More specifically, the content within the article takes us on a journey of those moments London’s underground rail network (the tube) captured by photographer Mike Goldwater. Feel: We love the nostalgic look back at love, despera ..read more

Last night we held our first community event ‘Meet the Street’ here in Bath. We were overwhelmed by how many of our fantastic neighbours turned up at ‘our local’ and shared the same enthusiasm we have, that encouraged us to hold this event – getting to know our neighbours. We had some fantastic conversations about our community and what we can do to improve where we work, along with getting to know those familiar faces we pass on the street every day. A massive ‘thank you’ to everyone that showed up and the brilliant Hall & Woodhouse for welcoming us at their venue. Don’t worry if you miss ..read more

A few weeks ago, we were sitting down for our team sharing session. This is a regular session to chat through any content or campaigns we’ve seen that we like/don’t like/intrigue us. One of the team mentioned a podcast episode they had listened to from 99% Invisible. Our discussion of this episode sparked our brand new idea for “Meet the Street 2019.” The episode was about a couple, Dan and Lu, from San Fran who lived on a street suffering from anti-social problems; things like vandalism, prostitution, illegal dumping, drug dealers. You name it; the street had it.  The couple decided to figure ..read more

AdSmart is the revolutionary approach to TV advertising which levels the playing field, so businesses of all shapes and sizes can benefit from the advertising impact of TV. With AdSmart, different ads can be shown to different households watching the same programme. This means brands and businesses can now advertise on national channels but to relevant audiences. It’s like Facebook advertising but on TV. Placements on Sky’s Adsmart start at £3000, far more affordable than a standard broadcast campaign and much less than many people expect. (Though standard broadcast ads also begin at much lowe ..read more

The emotional impact of TV advertising

It’s well known that video adverts can have a huge emotional impact and build brand fame. As advertising goes it’s the most likely to make you laugh and the most liked. Think Levis, Nike and Guinness. You might not buy any of these products, but you’ll certainly know (if not love) the brands and their inspiring, funny and iconic adverts. The first step to creating effective videos is to decide what you want your audience to feel. Is it empathy, do you want them to give? Do you want them to feel the potential joy a new piece of furniture could bring them? What’s the purpose of your film? The ..read more

Changing television habits

Last year, journalist Michael Wolff wrote a book called Television is the New Television. But what does that mean, exactly? According to Wolff, “All screens are essentially a television screen. What’s the result? More people are watching television than ever before.” This means that now, TV advertising is becoming even more prevalent than it’s ever been. The way and “where” we watch TV has changed. We’re watching slightly less “live” TV and more social media, Youtube and Subscription Video on demand (SVOD) on platforms like Amazon Prime, Netflix and Sky. This doesn’t mean that video adverts ar ..read more
