Do Not Be Afraid

My sweet girl Rosie is afraid of storms, fireworks, and any other loud noises. On stormy days she will curl up on my bed or sit by my bed and shake uncontrollably. I always hold her and comfort her. I tell her that she will be okay and nothing is going to hurt her because I am here to protect her always. I was reminded of Matthew 1:20: But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit”. God sent an angel to tell Joseph that h ..read more

Compassion For The Unadoptable
Patti Burris

We attended a mega adoption event yesterday and I was filled with compassion for these dogs and cats that live their lives in kennels or crates because of the choices that we have made as humans. I wanted to take every one of them home! I told Tami that we need 50 acres so we can open a sanctuary for those fur babies that have been deemed “unadoptable” by society. It reminded me that the Bible mentions several times that Jesus had compassion on those around Him who suffered or had been deemed “unadoptable” by society. Luke 7:13 tells us that Jesus had compassion on a widow who was burying her ..read more

Psalm 100 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. 2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. Praise and thanksgiving are important principles of a Christians life ..read more

Do What Is Right

Genesis 4:7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” In this verse God is speaking to Cain about the offering Cain had brought before the Lord. The text does not tell us specifically what was wrong with the offering, but it does say that God accepted Abel’s offering, but not Cain’s. While there are many aspects of “doing right,” I am going to address doing right by following the ten commandments for this blog post. Exodus 20:1-17 The Ten Commandments 20 And God ..read more

The Prayer Of A Canaanite Woman

Matthew 15:21-28 21 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.” 23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” 24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” 25 The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said. 26 He replied, “It is not right to tak ..read more

Discovering Jesus: 10/24/2021 To 11/20/2021

It has almost a month since I posted on here. I ended up having to get a job. It wasn’t something I wanted to do and it is only a temporary solution to my income issue. In the Spring, other programs will be implemented in LIFE Single Mom Ministry and I will need to lead full-time. I trust in a God that gives us dreams and provides the miracles to make those dreams a reality. It has been a transition. I try to NOT focus on work on my time off, because it tends to drain me. I also struggle with the dread of being outside of God’s will. I allowed fear and people to push me into getting a job, in ..read more

I am trying to find a way to slow down time. It seems to be flying by so fast that I can’t find the time to enjoy the present. So, that is my goal. I need to enjoy each moment as it is. Which reminds me, I also have a tendency to worry about the future. Matthew 6:25-34 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.&nbs ..read more

Time flies! I didn’t realize that it had been 3 weeks since I had posted one of these. So, how have I discovered Jesus lately? I sense the presence of Jesus in everything that I do. I know that He is the one that opens the doors as I start LIFE Single Mom Ministry. I know that He is the one that gives me the courage to obey and step out of my comfort zone. I know that He is the one who provides for me as I serve single moms. Exodus 33:14 14 The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” The presence of Jesus can be a reality in our lives if we ..read more

WBGL Single Mom Saturday

I am always nervous when I step out to serve in any way. I wonder if I will fail or embarrass myself. But more often than not I end up being blessed more than I could ever imagine. This is precisely what happened on Saturday 9/25 at the WBGL Single Mom Saturday. The Terre Haute location was Burger Chrysler Jeep and they were absolutely AMAZING! They gave each mom and oil change and car wash. On top of that, with the financial support of WBGL, an alternator was replaced for a single mom who had been having to have her vehicle charged every two weeks at Auto Zone to keep it going until she coul ..read more

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. We have been studying the book of Job in my Sunday School class. When I read 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 and think about my life, I know that I have not suffered anything that compares to what Job suffered. In chapter 2 verse 5, Job asks his wife, “shall we accept good from God and not trouble?” In John 16:33, Jesus tells us that in this world we WILL have trouble. THE GOOD NEWS: In John 16:33, Jesus also tells us to TAK ..read more
