Hi am 18M and about to finish hs in 3 months, recently i started thinking what i want to be in life so i started researching for a field, i liked electronics, programming, aviation and mechanics, and i found mechatronics to be the perfect field to go into, but i just learned about robotics and am not sure which one will suit me more considering the following points : • the dream job that am so into is devoloping drones, any kind of drones either its UAVs or UUVs or UGVs. • jobs in general because im aware that i might not find the job i want right away after college, civillian or military job ..read more

Career path with a technical college degree

I am looking at potential career opportunities that my local technical college offers and the mechatronics program stood out as interesting and as something with a lot of growth potential in the coming years. What type of work would and AA from a technical school set me up to do and what does a career path with that starting point look like? I also have a bachelors degree in a non-technical field if that makes a difference. submitted by /u/Four2060nein [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I know it’s more of a biomedical engineering area but that degree option isn’t available where i am. I’m still an undergraduate, but i want to explore future career options. I would really like to work in prosthetic design but i’m not sure if i can with a mechatronics degree. submitted by /u/dee-ms [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Problem with MQ sensor in diaper change detection

I am trying to create a system that detects, from about 25cm distance, whether the baby diaper needs to be changed or not. I have both MQ4 and MQ135 which i read that they were capable of detecting methane and ammonia. The problem is that neither of the sensors is reading anything when they are exposed to the gases. At one point i even placed the sensor directly near a diaper and it still did not read any change in value. I read on other sites that the sensor needs 24-48 hours of pre-heating. Might that be the problem? submitted by /u/Internal_Brain_7170 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Would a bachelor’s in this advance my career?

Hello, I’m 25 and have a degree in biomedical engineering already and a certification in CNC machining and manufacturing technology. Because of pandemic and geographic type issues I wasn’t able to ever enter the biomedical field, so I am a prototype machinist and make ~$33/hr. I’m fairly sure I want to get into industrial automation because that’s where the investment money is pouring into. It’s also where every factory I’ve worked at (4 as of now) have spent time trying to train workers to become techs etc. However I want to know if a degree in this would help me move into industrial automat ..read more

Seeking Advice for Final Year Mechatronics Project

Hey everyone, I'm currently a Mechatronics student grappling with what to pursue for my final year project. I'm seeking some guidance and suggestions from this knowledgeable community. A bit about my background: I'm currently interning at an educational company that teaches robotics to kids and teenagers. My tasks involve creating curricula for teenagers aged 13 and above, focusing on Arduino/electronics projects. While I enjoy this work, I feel it's somewhat distant from the core academic studies I've undertaken at university. Here are some of my skills and weaknesses to give you a better id ..read more

Looking for a very small and precise linear actuator
Reddit » Mechatronics

A product we're developing requires a very small linear actuator. Preferrably no more than 10mm wide. - Travel needs to be atleast 20mm - Minimum precision of 1 µm, the more the better - Speed at least 100 mm/s It would also help if the actuator holds its position when powered off, but this is not a must. We looked at voice coil actuators but they tend to get very bulky if you want any kind of linear travel. Any pointers? Thanks! submitted by /u/Familiar-Article-808 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
