Myanmar Post has partnered with First National Insurance (General), abbreviated as FNI, to introduce a parcel insurance service. This service commenced on November 1, 2023. The insurance fee is calculated at 1.25% of the insured value. For example, if you wish to insure a parcel valued at 1000 Kyats, an insurance fee of 12.5 Kyats will be added to the postage cost. I had the wonderful opportunity to explore the Postal Museum Taipei on August 17, 2023, following my visit to the Taipei 2023 39th Asian International Stamp Exhibition. Situated at 45 Chong Qing South Road, Section 2, Taipei 100, this captivating museum operates from Tuesday to Sunday, welcoming visitors from 9 AM to 5 PM, with the last admission at 4:30 PM. Keep in mind that the museum is closed every Monday, as well as the day following national and folk holidays. Myanmar Post has recently initiated the closure of several small post offices in the Yangon region, marking the initial steps in streamlining operations by phasing out underutilized postal facilities. This trend is expected to continue, potentially leading to the closure of additional post offices in the near future. In the early months of 2023, a total of 18 post offices in the Mandalay and NayPyiTaw regions were also shut down. In 1979, UNESCO designated it as the International Year of the Child, a significant occasion marked by Burma with the issuance of two commemorative stamps on December 1st. These stamps, featuring denominations of 25 Pyas and 50 Pyas, were thoughtfully designed by U Khin Hlaing.
