Meeting Mila: The Hash Queen’s Unstoppable Spirit
Skunk Magazine
by Margaret Thomas

Mila and I are seated at the back of a large room, the soft murmur of voices surrounding us. Even though we’re actively recording an interview, people interrupt to request a photo and a chat. She happily obliges, giving hugs and kisses on the cheek and smiling for the camera. She’s comfortable being the center of attention and welcomes each interaction with warmth. Mila has accomplished more in her years than most people, doing it as a single mother of four children. Despite all of her achievements, she continues to dream up new ways to reach out to the community she has built and to invite ne ..read more

Maybe Pot is Dead or Maybe it is Just Re-Rirthing

On KMUD’s The Cannabis Show, we have advised our listeners to diversify their product line. The industry is obviously struggling to increase the price point of regular flower and may never do so. Once the price has stumbled, it is not in the interests of buyers to do anything about that. Somehow these folks don’t realize that if they jam the farmer, they are jamming themselves. The growers and producers are not static entities, they are evolving. First, it seems, what is your new market to be? Are you targeting medically challenged people, or older people, or edibles or epicures, or the vape m ..read more

We are the Hope of the World
Skunk Magazine
by Steve Dodge

WE are that hope, the hope of the world. Not just you and I, but our country – we aren’t uniquely important because we are without error, nor because we stumble so often. Nor that we have so often failed in our dreams. We are the hope of the entire world and we can unite, the good and just people of our country (and I don’t mean all of us; some have abandoned America, in fact, abandoned being fully human). I know that this writing is not cannabis related – but cannabis speaks to what America can be. And the time for the meek is over. I really don’’t respond well to bullies. And I am fed up. We ..read more

The Chalice: Chris Louie’s Made in Xiaolin Luxury Pivot

Made in Xiaolin. Years ago, in the late 1980’s when I lived in Charleston, South Carolina, I was gifted a very special tool from my old friend, Jean-Jacques, used for smoking cheeba. He named it the chalice. It was a very simple device, a piece of timber bamboo with a hole in it, where a sandblasting tip had been inserted and sealed with wire and clay for airtightness. You would fill the sandblasting tip with ouid and light it up. Your mouth would rest on one end, the other acted as a carburetor. The hits that the chalice put out were exemplary and potent. I’d never smoked anything like it unt ..read more
