In October of this year, Bloomberg Businessweek published a story about an alleged attack by Chinese spies of almost 30 US companies, including Amazon and Apple. The story reveals that the attack was done through microchips from Super Micro that were apparently planted during the manufacturing stage of motherboards that were used in servers.
