The well of Bethlehem

King David was getting old and he began to look back upon his life and one of the things that impressed him was when his band of warriors heard a passing comment of how he longed for just one sip from the well of Bethlehem. Three of his most daring mighty warriors broke into the enemy’s camp to get David a drink of water from the well of Bethlehem. He remembers fondly their bravery as they were willing to risk their lives for their King. But he poured out the drink as an offering to the Lord because he did not want to take lightly what they had done. 1 Chronicles 11 16 At that tim ..read more

In 2007, after experiencing some traumatic rejections and painful experiences with a congregation in Israel and failed attempted to find love, my melancholy, and helplessly romantic heart was in a depressive state.     I was offered a golden opportunity to intern in the Canadian winter wonderland at a Christian TV station. I actually got to live on a ranch too! Slowly in the midst of the brutally cold winter, my heart began to unthaw from its broken and frozen state.     One verse that touched my life and brought me freedom was from Jeremiah 17:16.     “I have not run a ..read more

Our Daily Bread
Poet of dreams

From the cotton fields of the United States, my grandmother learned how to trust God for her daily bread.  Her father was an itinerate preacher and during the Great Depression. They at times had it rough. Later in life as a widow and a school teacher, she would bow her head to pray and see how the Lord would provide for her and her children. As I was growing up, I also had to learn to trust God. How to trust God for the lives of my parents as we lived on the front lines of Hizbella rockets on the border of Israel and Lebanon. When my father went out to check on the radio station towers at mid ..read more

I Belong to You

As a child, my parents moved often. We left Israel when I was 3 years old only to move from state to state in the USA for the next ten years due to my father’s work. When we came back to Israel when I was 13, I struggled with a sense of belonging and my identity. As the years went by I still struggled. Living as a Christian amongst Muslims and Jews was complicated. As a teenager, I learned the art of adapting and becoming like a chameleon to fit in.  After an attempt to set on fire the congregation we attended, a fear came over me and I did not talk much about my faith ..read more

The Soon Coming Glory

Like an old garment that was thrown away, I felt when he walked away. He turned his back to me. I felt like an abandoned dog in the forest rain.   The heart does not forget, the fear remains yet. The greatest fear that Avolan is forgotten. And the New Jerusalem will not soon come. This hope deferred makes the heart sick.     Where is my Beloved? The One who said he would come and take me away? Where is my Beloved? The One who watches me when I pray?   The wind whispers that it’s only a moment I feel for ..read more

I Slept But My Heart Was Awake
Poet of dreams

I was standing on a bridge looking at the walls of Jerusalem. It was the summer of 2010. I heard a whispher, a promise, “Soon you will see your beloved, soon you will meet your husband.” For years I had not been interested in marriage as I traveled the world, but in 2006 from 2010 I was praying and hope deferred made the heart sick. But on that bridge as I gazed a David’s Citidal, hope came alive. When he finally came at the end of the summer I had a decision to make. Would I open the door for love? Would I allow myself to fall in love? After spending time in prayer. I felt the Lord ..read more

“Come, Follow me,” Jesus said. This theme is mentioned throughout the New Covanent. We are to be followers of Jesus. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them and they follow me.” John 10:27   If we are following Jesus’ than we should know the difference between His voice and the voice of the enemy. We need to able to discern and grow in the gift of discernment so that we can stand against the lies of the enemy.   We are not dreaming. We are following a real Shepherd King, who is also the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, So how far are w ..read more

I don’t post everything on the blog.     We thank God for an increase in faith and believe that this next season the Lord is going to do many great things. As watchmen on the walls standing at the womens gate of the ancient ruins located right on the doorstep of our bookstore we are believing that the Lord is going to make dry bones come to life. Our God is Lord of the dust and he can breath life into it and bring rains to water that which is dying and cause it to bring forth life and bloom. The Wolf ..read more

Blessed are the poor in spirit
Poet of dreams

Matthew 5 :3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,  for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.   Poverty and being poor is despised by the modern day prosperity gospel. The spirit of poverty is often thought of as something evil that one needs to cast out and be free of. And yet the first saying in the sermon on the mount is Blessed are the poor in spirit. And in Luke 6 we see simply it says blessed are you who are poor. Looking at his disciples, he said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Luke 6:20 ..read more
