Play Capsule is our first experiment in brick and mortar retail. We opened the space on December 7th, 2019, as a pop-up shop for Art of Play to offer a selection of items for customers to experience hands-on. You can find our shop hidden inside James Coffee, an artisanal coffee house in the Little Italy district of downtown San Diego. The highlight of the shop is the card wall, a massive grid of over 1,200 decks of cards. We’re excited to learn that our 2018 Kickstarter video for Papercuts by Suzy Taylor, directed by Ka-Lok Ho of Erudite Pictures, has won a bronze Telly Award for Branded Content. For this project it was important for us to highlight Mrs. Taylor’s story more-so than focus on the product we were selling. The video was shot on location at her home studio in England to give it a warm and personal touch, giving viewers (and backers) a glimpse at the delicate process of hand-cut paper art.
