My Best Friend’s Wedding
Fashion Over Fifty

My best friend Judy, 66, decided to get married. She and her husband, Marvin tied the knot just before Los Angeles was ordered to go in to quarantine in mid March.  People have asked me why she would get married so "late" in life? I'll tell you why. Because she wanted to feel fully committed to her significant other, and I applaud her for that. Also 66 is not "late in life", by the way Judy's dress is perfect for a Mid-March small wedding outside held in San Diego. Up close it almost looks like a brocade. Judy and I have been the dearest of friends since we were 10. We have a 50 year fr ..read more

As you advance in your career, your wardrobe should advance with you, reflecting your growing role and responsibilities. Women over 50 have a unique opportunity to redefine themselves with a modern, updated look; here are a few tips to achieve it. Happy New Year!!! Oh What to Wear on New Year’s Eve in 2020!!

It's always a quandry on what to wear on New Year's Eve, and for reason the year 2020 needed something special. If you are not someone who goes for the glitz, you can do subtle with a flair.  This skirt is gold lame and the  belt is also gold. You can't really tell in the photo, but the heart shaped neckline and pearls, this would be great if you are going out to dinner and a nice place. If you want to spice it up a little bit, you can add some statement earrings with a splashier gold jacket and a vintage gold purse.  This is more for a fancier restaurant where you know that everyone will be ..read more

The Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach California, Much More than a Hotel!! My Staycation.

When I was invited to stay at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Huntington Beach, Ca. over Thanksgiving weekend, I was so excited. Living in Los Angeles, it is the perfect place for a  staycation. As perfect as I thought it would be, the stay there exceeded anything I could have ever imagined.  Not only is it literally across the street from the beach, but the hotel is really a resort that is not only gorgeous, but has so many really fun things to do. That is the beach behind me in the photo below. The rooms are so spacious and luxurious. We had a suite that was as pretty as any hotel I have ever st ..read more

Last Thursday I was invited to a party celebrating the collaboration between the design labels Alice and Olivia and Friends With You. I'm not sure why I was invited as I one of the older people there, but I still had fun.  The clothing line from the collaboration you see below. It is not  really Fashion Friendly for Over Fifty other than those red pants, which I like. The designer/creator of Alice and Olivia is Stacy Bendet. I happen to love her style because she LOVES color and she has fun with fashion. She is on the right and Paris Jackson is on the left Rarely do I go to parties where ther ..read more

It all started in 2007 when Smita Vassant was in her 40's and won the title "Mrs. USA Asia. Winning this contest gave Smita so much confidence she decided to "jump in" to the world of beauty and fashion, which she continues to do today Smita has always loved fashion growing up in India. She and her mom loved styles from the US and Europe. They would buy material and take it to a tailor and make clothing in the "Western" style, rather than the traditional Indian. Since I have known her she is always the most stylish in the room, so she isn't giving up anytime soon Since winning the contest, Sm ..read more

"Virgil Abloh’s Off-White show saw a diverse cast, including older models like Axelle Doue. Despite having modelled for a handful of seasons, the model became one of the stand-out girls from the show, and gave the label a lot of attention for its new casting and inclusivity.  She also walked for GmbH, and is guaranteed to become one of the bigger names as fashion slowly but surely begins to include a diverse age range." (Hypebae: "Seven Breakout Models from Fashion Month Spring/Summer 2020) It's looking like more and more designers are finally including models Over Fifty.  Now we just need t ..read more

Christian Siriano Makes Fashion for Everyone, Even Over Fifty, in his Spring/Summer 2020 Collection

If there is anyone who has been a pioneer in bringing Diversity to the runway, it is none other than Christian Siriano. He was the first designer to put a model over a size 0-2 on the runway. Once Christian broke through the unwritten rule that models must be stick thin, other Designers have followed suit. Most women Over Fifty have experienced changes in their bodies and are no longer as thin as they once were. Hence, it is hard for this demographic to relate to most of the fashions at any of the fashion weeks. Christian is not afraid to make his curvier models look sexy, either. What a break ..read more

Not Everyone’s Life on Social Media is Perfect ; Not Even Bloggers
Fashion Over Fifty

Social media can be depressing; everybody's life looks so perfect, but it isn't so, even for Bloggers like me. It may look like I have this carefree life on Instagram, with loads of clothes and nothing else to do other than take photos of myself. In fact, the past 6 months I haven't blogged too much due to depression. This is one of the photos that was taken of me while in the depression. My life looks pretty cool eating breakfast at Tiffany's. Caveat: not everything is as it seems on social media. It started more than a year ago when my friend's son committed suicide. Somehow I got involved ..read more
