Welcome to our Second week of Theological Thursday. We are now half way through our three week series on Theology. Today we dive into a question that will help the local church where you attend or serve. I would love to hear feedback and thoughts on today’s post from each of you. Here is this week’s Question: What is the relevance of the church in a culture where church membership, church attendance, and the number of people identifying as born-again Christians is declining?  When I read this question and started forming my answer, I caught myself wondering over ministries and settings th ..read more

Trusting in God’s Call

December 2019, I knew where God wanted me to go next. He wanted me to apply to serve in South Korea. I had been hesitant because of my mom’s health, however God made Himself clear when He brought me to tears standing on Namsan looking over the city of Seoul. Despite worries and doubts that still gnawed at the back of my mind, I began the application process to work in South Korea as a missionary. God, knowing of my worries, continued to affirm me in this. Even before my Christmas trip to Korea in 2019, I had a handful of chances to work with Korean ministries in the states, had been able to go ..read more

Covid caused a lot of changes in everyone's daily lives all around the world. From what I can tell, it seems like some countries, like America, are opening back up again and are nearly back to what we would call normal. However, not every country is like that. One of those countries happens to be where I’m serving: South Korea. To give you an idea about what daily life is like at the moment, masks are still a must and gatherings are extremely restricted. While the government is enforcing a limit on how many people can gather (for example, six people if four of them are fully vaccinated), peopl ..read more

Behind the Scenes of Student Ministry
Ministry Win

Church congregations utilize student ministries as a gathering point for those who are no longer children and are becoming young adults. These ministries aim to provide a safe haven for teen believers to find both fellowship and spiritual refinement alongside their peers. Venerable for their often chaotic and lively summer camps, student groups are too often driven only by the ambition of adult leaders, who strive to inspire action among stagnant students. Rather than incorporate teens more directly to create unity in said ministries-with both students and leaders initiating wo ..read more

Plan a Back to school event. Last year because of COVID you may not have had a chance to have a special moment to send students back to school, but this year an event would be a WIN for your ministry! Launch into your fall schedule with a WIN! I do not know what your fall looks like, but if I am launching new material, gameplan, or approach I normally launch it in the fall as changes are already happening in teenagers lives. So we build momentum all year without major changes. Have an Open House for Parents to meet Small Group and Large Group leaders. Do not hold anything back from makin ..read more

Over the summer as a ministry we have seen God move in different ways. The summer began with us talking about Jesus overflowing in our lives throughout the summer. In particular we looked at not filling our jar, referring to our lives with junk that leaves little room for Jesus. Then we either went to middle school or high school camp for an experience that can only be explained that God moves in amazing ways when we are obedient.  At Summer Camp we focused on the theme of being Solid and looked at moving from Head knowledge to putting into practice Godly principals. We saw our students g ..read more
