I’ve said before that one of my biggest musical influences, period, is Ryan Adams. I suppose I should probably say “was” Ryan Adams. From the time I was 12 until probably 2015 or so, I was an enormous supporter of his music. The live event behemoth recently made a colossal announcement—that they are ending the decades-long practice of taking a cut of artist merch sales at their venues, rolling out over the next few months.  And though this announcement has been widely cheered and celebrated, it’s not the concession everyone thinks that it is.
