When he was elected in 2020, President Biden made it his mission… To eliminate fossil fuels and go green. Washington has spent nearly $2 trillion on “clean” energy incentives — all due to the prevailing concern about climate change. And if she becomes President, Vice President Kamala Harris promises to do the same. I spoke with Steve Koonin, the Department of Energy’s former Under Secretary of Science, about the real facts behind modern climate science. No matter what side of the aisle you sit on, you’ll want to hear this before November’s election. You can listen to the podcast by clicking he ..read more

Less than 1%. That’s the share of Microsoft Windows devices that went down with the IT outage on Friday. Around 8.5 million devices. It doesn’t sound so bad until you see what these 8.5 million devices brought down with them: More than 3,000 flights in and out of or within the U.S. had been canceled and more than 11,000 were delayed. Areas in Oregon, Arizona and Alaska reported that some of their 911 emergency services were down. Customers at JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo reported trouble accessing their online accounts and their money. The Social Security Administration was ..read more

Mega-cap “Magnificent Seven” AI stocks just posted their worst week in over two years. Between last Monday morning’s opening and the closing bell on Friday, these seven tech leaders (and presumed AI frontrunners) lost a combined $1.1 trillion in market capitalization. Following a rapid shift in interest rate expectations, this decline seems to represent widespread profit-taking among fortunate investors. After all, AI investors have made out like bandits over the last two years. Just look at some of the year-to-date gains of some of the biggest AI-related stocks trading on the Nasdaq exchange ..read more

Jim Simons wasn’t your typical Wall Street hedge fund manager. He wasn’t born rich. He didn’t have decades of experience in high finance. And he didn’t have any connections to the wealthy investors or rubbing shoulders with powerful executives. Instead, Simons came from the world of academia… Simons graduated from the Manhattan Institute of Technology at just 20 years of age in 1958. Then he celebrated his graduation by driving a motor scooter from Boston to Bogota, Colombia, before returning to school at Berkley, where he earned his PhD at age 23. Specializing in cutting-edge mathematical pro ..read more

No matter who will sit in the Oval Office on January 20, 2025, one thing is certain… AI is going to be at the top of the president’s agenda. We’re in an AI arms race. It has the world’s biggest tech firms — Microsoft, Apple, Google, Amazon — all investing. They are spending hundreds of billions of dollars to build out applications that just keep getting more powerful. But I’ve been investigating what began as a secret project led by two of the most powerful billionaires in Silicon Valley. These guys are very different from more famous tech figures like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and ChatGPT’s Sam ..read more

New Mega Trend About to Take Off with Small Caps

He’s probably the most important person in America right now. When he speaks, the market listens. Only a couple of words from this man can trigger calm or chaos. And his words recently: “Really good.” Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell used these two words to describe June’s Consumer Price Index Report. And with that, my prediction from weeks ago came true. The first time we have a weak CPI, small-cap stocks are going to explode. And that’s exactly what happened last week. This is usually the sign for the start of another rally. Which is a huge turning point. And there are three tech bio sto ..read more

When I was 10 years old, I started my third business. The first was selling greeting cards door to door when I was six. The second was selling baseball cards when I was eight. In 1972, when I was in fourth grade, my new business was selling decals from sports teams to my classmates. And it was here that I learned one of the most valuable lessons in investing… I heard through the grapevine that if you wrote to a baseball team to let them know that you were a big fan, most would respond with free team stickers. This sparked an idea… If I write to all 26 Major League Baseball teams … and if each ..read more

A $2.5 Trillion Opportunity in the Biotech Industry

“I don’t want to hear that word, impossible … tell me what you need to get it done.” This is what Bob Swanson, founder of Genentech, said to one of his head scientists in order to engineer a medical breakthrough. In 1979, Genentech managed to create synthetic human insulin. This was at a time where the U.S. demand for insulin was putting pressure on its manufacturers — including Eli Lilly, Genentech’s manufacturer. The company was able to produce synthetic insulin in laboratories from bacteria, using recombinant DNA technology (meaning DNA molecules of two different species). It was safer, h ..read more
