So, here we go again, it is raining outside and the children are running a riot in the house! Even the TV won’t keep them focussed for long enough. Time to take control, the mummy-daddy tag-team is on, let’s do some colouring! A series of short activities will keep the children rooted long enough to get you through the bad weather (or all the way up to bed time). Crayola has a dedicated page with tons of colouring pages for you to print out. Check it out here. All you need is access to a printer — and if you’re smart, you’d have a few of them printed ahead of time, in case your printer suddenl ..read more

Here is another way to spend a few hours with your young ones, in a healthy and creative way: Make colour coordinated fruit skewers! Not only do they get to do something with their hands, it’s also the perfect opportunity for them to learn about fruits, colours and shapes! (Obviously, be careful with knives, sharp or pointy edges, etc…) The huge plus of this is that you get your children to eat some fruit at the end of the process! Looking for more ideas of stuff to do to pass time with your little one? Check this link out.  The post Make Healthy Fruit skewers appeared first on ForDads.ie ..read more

Traveling with the Kids this summer?

Olivia Mai, founder of baby equipment rental specialists, The Stork Exchange, has been operating at Dublin Airport for the last 6 years. In a Q&A, she gives us some tips on how to make traveling with infants easier and some rookie mistakes to avoid! What’s the worst thing you’ve seen at the airport? On a work trip last week, I saw one mum traveling solo with her baby. She was flying Ryanair and carried: a buggy, two cabin bags (the cabin bag allowance for a ‘Priority’ booking), a baby bag, (free as part of your baby’s allowance with Ryanair) and of course, her baby! When she got to the gat ..read more

Keeping track of your newborn

No, we don’t mean that, very much like your keys, you misplace your child regularly and need to find him/her. Rather, during the first few months, it can be a little overwhelming to deal with all these new responsibilities — and there is ways to help you keep track of what to do next. You are meant to feed them every three hours, keep a close eye on how much milk they have had, how many nappies they have blessed you with and a ton of other things. Every parent’s first instinct is to grab a piece of paper and note it down. Problems with paper: paper gets lost you forget to write it down it gets ..read more

Ever been in a situation where you desperately needed a baby monitor but did not have one at hand? Fear not, here is the solution we stumbled upon, which saved our butts quite a few times. Telling you, best €5 I ever spent! Scenario We’re invited to this kid-friendly wedding somewhere around Paris (France) and our son is barely 9 months old. Brave parents we are, we decide, f*ck it, let’s do it! (Side note, I really need to write a little something about travelling with newborn babies). We arrive at the venue (thanks God for the wise choice of renting a car), check-in at the venue, put down ba ..read more

Raising a child costs €267,725. Are you financially ready to be a parent?

That’s a whooping €15,000 a year or €1,200 a month! And that is only till they are 18. (Don’t be fooled, the costs don’t stop there.) WHAT?! I Can’t afford that! Looking at the numbers, there is no chance in hell that you’d be able (or willing) to cover such costs! It’s hard enough to be living pay check to pay check (for the most of us), without having these extra costs hitting us. Who in their right mind would be mad enough to engage in such a project? That’s it, I’m getting the snip! Yes you can Ok, relax (does it ever work to tell someone to relax?). This is not a logical decision that ne ..read more
