Liebherr-Aerospace Toulouse, Liebherr’s centre of excellence for air management systems, has put into operation a new high capacity 5-axis machining centre featuring a rotary pallet loading system. Liebherr-Verzahntechnik, Liebherr’s center of excellence for gear technology and automation systems, supplied the robot. RUAG Aerostructures in Oberpfaffenhofen is supplying Airbus with a first complex fuselage section for its latest long-haul jet, the A321XLR. The second aft-most fuselage section, which is over 6m long and around 4m high, is home to the new jet’s lavatories and rear galley. RUAG Aerostructures already delivered first side and floor elements to Hamburg in the spring. The first P-8A Poseidon aircraft for Norway has rolled out of the paint shop in Renton, in Royal Norwegian Air Force livery. Norway is one of eight nations to have acquired the P-8A as their new multi-mission maritime patrol aircraft. Norway’s first P-8A aircraft will now return to the factory floor to be prepared for flight testing.
