Bonnie Discepolo participated in an clinical trial examining possibly delaying menopause to improve health outcomes. She hopes it gives women more agency. Williams is leading a study to understand the impact of slowing ovarian age on women’s health. The double-blind study looks at 100 women between 35 and 45 who have normal periods. (Double-blind means no one knows who receives the treatment and who receives the placebo.) Subjects are randomized to receive either rapamycin or a placebo. For... April 23, 2024 Will continuous lactate monitoring revolutionize the way we train, or is just another costly sports-science fad? "The important thing to remember is that the lactate is not the cause of your fatigue. It is simply a metabolic marker telling you that you’re working hard. However, the lactate is easily measurable and there are (somewhat fiddly) protocols to use it estimate the bottom of Zone 5 via something called the maximal lactate steady state (MLSS),... Abstract Up to 25% of patients recovering from antibiotic-treated Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) develop functional symptoms reminiscent of Post-Infectious Irritable Bowel Syndrome (PI-IBS). For patients with persistent symptoms following infection, a clinical dilemma arises as to whether to provide additional antibiotic treatment or to adopt a conservative symptom-based approach. Here, we review the literature on CDI-related PI-IBS and... Link to article: BACME: ME/CFS charities work with psychologising organisation (thecanary.co) I've picked out the following as the intro, but worth a read on the BACME discussion etc and other things (it isn't just about the charities).
