Commercial Acoustics was contracted to furnish and install PET acoustic ceiling baffles at the new Capstan Wellen Park and Capstan Waterside offices.
Polyester Acoustic Ceiling Baffles for Class A Office Spaces
Prior to the installation, one of our project managers went out to site to coordinate placement of the baffles with the lighting subcontractor. With many acoustical scopes including acoustical baffles and acoustical wall panels during new construction, it’s common to need to coordinate install with other subcontractors. While our team typically coordinates with the lighting subcontracto ..read more

Restaurant Acoustic Treatment & Echo Reduction
Modern restaurants are typically designed with shiny, hard surfaces on the walls, floors and ceilings, which creates the prefect storm for excess echo and reverb in a space. In most cases, this issue isn’t caught until post-occupancy, when guests start to complain about not being able to hear anything. Fortunately, at Union Grille, the architect designed the restaurant with full coverage, fabric-wrapped acoustic panels on the ceilings of both the first and second floors. Even with expansive marble floors and floor-to-ceiling windows, the acous ..read more

TECO Board Room Acoustics
The acoustics in a board room or conference room are critical to ensure meetings run smoothly and efficiently. In the board room at Tampa Electric Company’s office, meetings were constantly held up by requests to “repeat that” and “can you say that again”. These constant interruptions were a result of poor acoustics along with a too loud HVAC system.
Some fabric wall systems have unique edge and corner conditions. For example, a special “fish” track is needed for fabric walls that go around an outside corner, whereas the standard edge track can be used for inside ..read more

HPUMC contacted Commercial Acoustics to initially provide acoustic testing for the space. The worship area had 25′ ceilings with standard ACT, and during the remodel, they replaced carpet with LVT floors (common issue with current redesigns). Even with plush seating, the reverb continued to be excessive.
When to Use Acoustical Diffusers

Many architects understand the value that stretched fabric acoustical systems bring to their designs. As both an aesthetic element, with high function acoustical absorption values, the stretched fabric wall helps to achieve two primary objectives on many architectural programs, from class A office to auditorium and assembly spaces. Unlike traditional prefabricated acoustical wall panels, which can be limited by maximum size, as well as difficulty installing around obstructions, stretched fabric systems can be used for wall to wall and floor to ceiling applications spanning hundreds of feet.
