I have the opportunity to rent a basement near my home as a control room.
The room is:
a very unusual shape (see floorplan)
All brick walls and concrete floor tiles. (see photo)
No windows
(I make electronic music so my studio is just one big control room. I don't need a drum room etc.)

I'd love your advice on:
What minimal acoustic treatment would you recommend?
I am renting so I can't do anything to the walls.
I have permission to pin a few things to it but I can't cover the walls in pane ..read more

Which Biquad coefficients for the equation below should I use to model an organ pipe with a specific diameter?
y[n]=a1*y[n-1]+a2*y[n-2]+b_1*x[n]+b_2*x[n-1]+b_3*x[n-2]

Hi r/Acoustics!
We recently released a new consumer-facing decibel meter app for the iPhone called Decibel Meter Ultra – and we need your expert feedback.
Decibel Meter Ultra Dashboard
In return, we're giving away one year's free access to the full edition.
The App
If you've ever looked on the App Store for a decibel meter, you already know it's awash with decibel meters. So why are we releasing another?
Well, in addition to all the usual features you see in a decibel meter app (sound level meter, dosimeter, frequency analyzer), there's a couple of extra tricks that we hope will appeal to ..read more

What are the main acoustic guidelines for a small outdoor venue? Trying to use as much natural amplification as possible i.e. shape of the rear walls, materials, reflectors, etc. It would be in a park with plenty of trees.

Stereo system
Context is that some while back on a previous system set at my living room I was constantly perceiving more volume coming form the left channel. Speakers and every possible combination where switched back and forth to rule out a malfunctioning component. Never get to fix the problem and got over it. Sell the whole system and got another one.
Now I´m facing the same problem. Left channel appears to be at a higher volume than the right channel. Measurements have been made at the main listening position with left/right balance noob dead center. Both channels get equal SPL, but list ..read more

Hey guys, I just watched this video by Audio University (https://youtu.be/GLnrysQ1Erg?si=BP3PvikpQIjLFpHB) and I learned a lot about each instrument but I was left with the question, which instrument is truest? In other words, which has the fewest harmonics and thus is closest to the actual note when played on a sine wave generator? (Acoustic instrument —I know I could grab any computer and download a synth to play the sine waves) Thanks,

Hello there!
I bought an M-Audio M-Track Solo yesterday to use with an Elgato Wave DX microphone. I tried setting it up today, but it doesn't seem to work at all.
The microphone and headphones are plugged and it is connected to the PC. The driver (ver. 1.0.3) is installed with the inMusic Software Center. On the driver, buffer size is set to 256, and the sample rate 48000. In Windows Sound Settings, the input is set to 2 channel 32 bit 48kHz, and the playback is set to 32bit 48kHz as well.
My PC recognises the device as Line 1/2 M-Audio M-Track Solo and Duo. Nothing captures the input from th ..read more

here is what I currently have after some work I've :
-metal stud construction without layer of separation between floor and celling (it was built that way before).
-on the outer side there is a simple drywall that was there before
-inside I've put rockwool heaviest I could find - 120kg/m3
-on the studs I've added a separation tape (compriband)
-and I closed with "acoustic" drywall sheets - 13kg/m2
I can hear speech voices through that wall, I can understand some of the words being said, just not enough of sound privacy, worth saying I haven't taped and mudded yet so there are gaps between ..read more

For the most part, the room dimensions are 17’ long x 13’ wide and 7.5’ tall. Might get a better idea if you can somehow decipher the pic:
My Basement Dymensions
It’s definitely not fully symmetrical - dashed lines represent walls that have little rooms in them that protrude into the room space (i.e bathroom)
I have 3 bags of Rockwool Safe n Sound, so 36 batts in total. Each 3” thick(deep), 15” wide and 4’ tall. I wanna make acoustic panels for my basement home studio.
Should I make 1) 9 super thick broad band panels (4 batts each panel aka 2 rows of 2 batts) or 2) a combination of thick broa ..read more

It seems like all the talk here is about spatial acoustics. I've been teaching myself acoustics lately and am having some trouble understanding it. As a result headphones sound wider than in-ear headphones, but they are both two-channel split monitors and the only difference is the distance from the sound source to the eardrum. If the sound sounded wider I would think of a phase difference as the reason, but at that distance the sound travels almost the same distance. The principles of localization of the human ear to a sound source are complex and involve psychoacoustics, so I'm looking for ..read more
