Hey everyone! Our first book club back in the Spring was such a blast. A great way to connect with some other ladies from near and far, especially during a time of such uncertainty. We had folks from New York to Oregon, from Michigan to Mexico. We met twice a month and I always looked forward to the discussion. The club was not just a chance to discuss what were reading, but to check in on each other and share ideas, thoughts, concerns, fears, and triumphs. One of our final meetings was only a few days after the brutal murder of George Floyd. I almost canceled. I thought maybe everyone would w ..read more

Hi all! I hope you’re staying safe and not getting too stir crazy. I recently finished the 1,000-piece puzzle I bought the week we went into quarantine. When I tried to order a couple more – you know, to help pass the time – they were sold out almost everywhere! I have decided it’s time to get to reading. After all, it was an activity on my quarantine to-do list. And I want you to join me! I’m inviting you to join the Lady Liberty *virtual* Book Club! You don’t have to live in New York City! Once we nail one down, we will meet via Zoom to discuss chapters, themes, characters, and just h ..read more

How Can I Help?
Lady Liberty

It’s been about a week and a half since I was asked to begin working from home. At first, like many others, I assumed this would be a short stint. Work from home for a couple of weeks, knock out the virus, back to business as usual. However, as we all know, it’s looking like Covid-19 will take a bit longer to combat. And while the day-to-day of my life has only been altered slightly, I feel for those whose have been turned completely upside down. So, how can I help? Here’s a small list I’ve compiled of places that need donations and even volunteers. Please share your ideas + other ways ..read more

How are you planning to spend the quarantine?

Wow. That’s a question I never thought I’d pose to the masses; but interesting times call for interesting queries I suppose. I’ve spent the last six days at home, four of which have been working days. I’m feeling very grateful that my profession allows me to work from home with virtually no interruption (no pun intended). Sure, I don’t have access to a printer and I’m pretty sure my office plant is going to die, but I have no complaints. I’m home, there is food in my fridge, I’m in good health, and I have my husband by my side. Life hasn’t changed that much. During a bad snow storm, hurrica ..read more

There are few things more enjoyable than a simple pleasure. Listening to a really beautiful song with your eyes closed. Smiling as you pass the display of hundreds of flowers being sold at the local bodega. Realizing you have one more drop of creamer for your coffee when you thought you were out. Ya know, the little things. In the sometimes numbing New York hustle-bustle, small moments like these are delightful and remind you that you’re still alive. Here is a list of my 5 latest “little things”….. 1 // steaming my oat milk creamer for my morning coffee My mother-in-law bought us this ..read more

We Moved to Brooklyn!

For the last couple of years, Taylor and I have had our sights set on Brooklyn. Park Slope in particular. We love the brownstone buildings, the gorgeous green fields of Prospect Park, and the plethora of Swedish coffee shops. We have both been living in Manhattan for the last ten years and neither of us have ever lived ’round these parts before. I was incredibly anxious while we were on the apartment hunt. My time in real estate caused me to feel like I knew a bit “too much” about the industry, and sort of stripped me of what could’ve been an otherwise blissfully ignorant approach. Nevert ..read more

Last Weekend, Lady Liberty celebrated its one year anniversary and what a fun year it’s been! Despite being tied up with a new job these last few months, (an undoubtedly wonderful life change that has effectively altered my writing schedule) I am so proud of Lady Liberty. It has been a wonderful outlet for me, a chance to share my opinions, thoughts and recommendations, while also showcasing some awesome women I know. This year will be no different! 2020, here we come. In an effort to be transparent and hold myself accountable, I’m declaring to the world that this is a new year and new me ..read more

Lady Liberty

Looking for a job can be the worst kind of job: it’s time consuming, anxiety-inducing, and oh yeah, doesn’t pay. Lady Liberty interviewee and The B is for Boss founder, Sade Ayodele, ventured on her first major job hunt fresh out of college going on some 50 interviews. But instead of feeling defeated and discouraged, she used it as a learning experience. “Every time I got a ‘no,’ I’d think ‘Why don’t I try this?’ or ‘How about I try that?’ and it really helped me improve my interview skills and try different resumes.” Sade said, “I had a black and white resume, and I had a creative resume ..read more
