I'm a wife of 17 years to my elementary school sweetheart (since we were 11). I'm a homeschooling mama to 2 beautiful, vibrant, loving young ladies, and two precious toddler boys (15 months apart). We've been homeschooling for 7 years, and though it's challenging, it's the best thing I do. I love to encourage other moms and wives. Take my hand and let's travel together,..

First things first, I’m not a food blogger. So why am I posting a recipe? I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease 18 years ago, so it’s been 17 years since I’ve had “real” wheat bread. That means that for 17 years, I’ve done without or eaten cardboard that’s bread-ish and crazy-expensive. In recent months, I’ve become a little obsessed with gluten free sourdough, which we all love fresh out of the oven or toasted and slathered in jam or butter. (My jeans are not appreciating my appreciation though ..read more

For years, we have enjoyed nature-focused science curriculum that essentially required that we spend time out of doors each day. However, this year, we are working on more project and experiment-based science which is totally fine. But it turns out that if my curriculum isn’t constantly insisting that I head out of doors … well, I don’t do a great job at it ..read more

I was browsing Pinterest the other day, looking for some printable activities to use alongside explore birds with my preschooler. I wanted a fun, bird-themed opportunity to review basic math and counting skills that fit the season. Our yard is freshly filled with birds in the early spring, and there’s really no better time of year to pull our feathered friends into our homeschool time.
This left me looking for a cute printable featuring math skills and birds. And there are A LOT available. But they are all very cartoon-ish... which I don't love a bunch. I prefer to choose books and graphics t ..read more

From exploring the fascinating story of Noah's Ark to unraveling the mysteries of the water cycle, observing weather patterns, and celebrating the magic of St. Patrick's Day, rainbows offer us endless possibilities to engage preschool and elementary students in hands-on learning.
Rainbow Slime from My Joy-Filled Life

Last week, a vibrant discussion unfolded in our off social group about the realities of perfectionism and persistence in homeschooling. It quickly became evident that many of us grapple with similar struggles. From the endless interruptions to feeling scattered, the overarching sentiment was clear: we often fall short of the idyllic (perfection) vision we had when we embarked on the journey of home education.
I'm compelled to share my thoughts from that conversation here because, honestly, it's something that bears repeating.
To every homeschooling parent out there, I want you to know: you're ..read more

(Be sure to head to the bottom of this post to grab a FREE Intentional Retreat planning workbook!)
Self-care is a big buzzword right now. External and internal expectations on mamas are louder than ever before.
We face challenges unlike any faced by previous generations of women. Social media, media, infinite parenting philosophies, and the general sinful nature of our humanity has cultivated an exhausting, sometimes tormenting, atmosphere in which we live and desperately push to thrive.
Despite all of the expectations and demands, I believe our generation has a deep heartfelt desire to love o ..read more

The beauty of Spring is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to set up class under a willow tree, by a creek, or at your favorite park. The benefits of spending time in nature are incredible! Studies have shown time in nature helps improve mood, lower stress hormones, and reduce nervous system overload.
Many homeschooling parents crave hands-on activities when it comes to science curriculum - they want to see their kids out of doors, getting muddy, and learning new things all at the same time.
It doesn’t have to be overwhelming to create hands-on science opportunities as there ar ..read more

This is a review for a product that I received free of charge. However, I reached out to this company and asked for the opportunity to try this service in exchange for two completely honest reviews. You know I’m not going to lie, so here’s the honest assessment of VisionTherapyatHome.com. An important note is that when I found the program, the fee was one lump sum for a year of access. They’ve recently updated the pricing to include a sign-up fee then a flat monthly fee for as long as you use the program. I think having a monthly fee associated with the program helps add a note of “urgency” to ..read more
