Coffee beans..

Soo as part of a birthday present I've got a selection of 10 different coffee beans. I've never used coffee beans, so this might be something that makes me start buying beans as its often cheaper I see and opens up more choice. The issue is, I don't have a grinder, I would be using a cafetiere, so what grinder and settings (if any settings?) would I use? Is there any other ways as opposed to a cafetiere? Like that kettle looking thing you put on a hob? can they run on electric hobs ..read more

News to me, bugs in flour is a known thing? Eggs can't be filtered out of the flour then they hatch, so you have buggy flour. Free protein in picked blackberries i can handle, these i'm not so sure. Discovered 3 of these little worm things in a pack. Another pack i bought at the same time, same type, same store, stored next to each other in a cupboard that is dry, bought 4 to 8 weeks ago. I think i bought 3 packs in total, maybe 4, which have been used with no issue either. Knowledgeable... Read more ..read more

Anyone have experience dehydrating in an air fryer? I'd like to try it for backpacking meals that I can just add hot water to, with a good shelf life. Chilli, curries look promising ..read more

My favourite cocktail is an Old Fashioned and I recently had a "Maple Old Fashioned" at a Giggling Squid restaurant, which got me thinking - what variants on the classic recipe have you tried and would recommend? Do you have a go-to way of making the original cocktail too ..read more

Hi folks, I am finding myself getting pretty hangry after intense days of DIY/work/whatever. Back in the day I'd smash a peanut butter on brown bread sandwich or something. The laziness is creeping in though and recently I am smashing a share size bag of doritios or something lol. Is there any "hacks" for filling food that is half decent for you as well? I have tried Huel and the versions a few years back were pretty grim IMO (Mac n Cheese, Thai Green). I'd much rather a king pot noodle... Read more ..read more

Do you pay attention to food hygiene ratings (actively seek them out)? Or do you just use any takeaway / restaurant? If you walked to a place and they had a 1 star sticker on the door would you go elsewhere? You can check the scores here: Scores on the Doors - Official Food Hygiene Ratings Food Hygiene scores for every current registered UK food business - updated daily. If it's not on here their registration is still "awaiting processing..." www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk and: Search for ratings | Food Hygiene Ratings (Hat tip to robfosters, he made this same thread but didn’t want to ..read more
