GASBONG

I’m sure the utter bleakness of their winters (and the build-up that comes with all that indoor time) plays a big part in turbo-charging all these passion projects but still, it’s hard not to be amazed by just how enticing the various MTL crews manage to make their city every time a scene vid drops… It doesn’t matter if it involves murder flipping to Paris Hilton, putting together lines that give the Primitive team a run for their money or coming up with a delightfully smoked-out title, you can just tell copious amounts of fun were had. Filmed and edited by Erik Fisher.     ..read more

Childhood lasts a lifetime – Skateboarding as a form of self-harm: A conversation with John Rattray
Free Skate Magazine
by Will

BACKSIDE NOSEBLUNT, SYDNEY, 2002. PH: MIKE O’MEALLY. John’s skateboarding needs little introduction and his ascendance to international acclaim from the improbable origins of Aberdeen, Scotland sounds like a classic formula for skateboard lore. Carving a skateboard career out of the Granite City is as tough as it sounds, and this conversation could quite easily have been a retrospective look at a transatlantic career, which developed from his indelible style on a board. Rather than sticking to that brief, John proposed that, instead, we begin with a single statement and take it from there. J ..read more

Mauro Caruso – Seby

Not sure exactly how long the injury-induced hiatus was, but it’s certainly been long enough that a full part from this beautiful Sicilian stallion deserves all the attention we can give it! Mauro’s been a longtime Free-fave and hearing that he filmed all this on his weekends off as he travelled around Italy to build skateparks with the Samurai Dist boys fills our hearts with joy. Especially since he apparently found most of this shit (recognise any of the spots? Didn’t think so) on 6am walks before clocking in for work… Forever one of the most passionate people in European skateboarding. Lov ..read more
