In 2003, 14-year-old me was convinced handrail tech – which at the time felt like the absolute coolest subgenre of skateboarding – had peaked. This was the year Yeah Right!, Free Your Mind and Bootleg 3000 left an indelible mark on our culture, permanently burning Justin Eldridge’s switch flip salad, Darrell Stanton’s nollie front blunt and Scott Kane’s kickflip frontside noseblunt into my still developing brain. Simpler times when I was convinced we’d reached the limit of what could be done in this category and was ready to recover from that trauma and move on… Now obviously whether or not t ..read more

Backside nosebluntslide, Paris: Ph: Clem le Gall. With the days of Joseph looking like The Little Prince (see his Skatepark of Tampa profile pic) well and truly behind us, I think it’s safe to say few professional skateboarders are as embedded in the ‘adult’ world as Mr Biais. Not that he doesn’t step into our little neverland at any given opportunity (he’s as driven as they get when it comes to missions), but he manages to navigate his skateboarding career with one foot firmly rooted in his other responsibilities, aware that time is not elastic and that you need to make what you do with it ..read more

There are a million reasons to watch Ben’s latest burst of (predominantly) Parisian effervescence, and the way he manages to capture the sentiment described in there by Gonz is of course one of them, but it’s the Kev footage that really did it for us this time. Just watching him fluidly launch into and out of grinds with that same inimitable spring he first charmed us with all those years ago, still out there seeing spots no one else sees and slamming away like there’s no tomorrow… Plus the editing was particularly brilliant in that chunk: probably some of the densest 40ish seconds of skatebo ..read more
