Ok, so far so good... with my new year´s resolution, that is. It´s only February, and I´m posting my second blog post! I´m dedicating the next few posts to useful tips on photography and how to look good in your photos. Here are some simple tips to help you choose what to wear for your family photos or portrait session: When picking out your clothing, choose something that is similar to each other in color and tone. If you want to wear a light colored top with dark pants, make sure your partner/family also wears a light top and dark pants and not vice versa. All light colors (i.e. khaki pants ..read more

Anytown, Manitoba

I was driving through Manitoba for the first time ever, and losing track of which towns I'd seen and which I hadn't. To my untrained eye, they all looked pretty much the same. Picturesque yet empty, and sometimes resembling ghost towns. Just down the road, an abandoned car and barn... ...and another abandoned barn on the prairies. What a contrast between this and the usual view out my window - which is from the 17th floor downtown Vancouver ..read more

Hooray! Photo Life, Canada's largest photography magazine, recently published my photo "On top of the world" as their "poster" for the upcoming 2012 competition! I am honored, and to be honest, a little surprised, since I didn't even know they were considering it! (I was previously named in their Emerging Photographer of the Year contest with that image.) This is a photo of Mt Cheam, in Chilliwack. I finally reached the top nearly at sunset, after hiking several hours... just as this trio of hikers arrived. I didn't know them, but after a series of photos in this awesome setting, I introduced ..read more

This is a hike I went on a while back. I am just posting the photos now because Photo Life magazine has recently picked one as a winner in a contest. I wanted to share the others too... The top of Mt Cheam (near Chilliwack) has spectacular views - especially on a clear day. We were lucky enough to have the perfect weather when we went on Sunday... warm enough, with just a touch of clouds to make for amazing photos. Here are a few of my favorites. We met some fun people at the top! I hope you don't mind me blogging about you guys! The shots were too awesome to keep to myself. Enjoy! :) S ..read more

We've just returned home from the annual photography convention in Las Vegas... and what fun it was! Not only did I meet some great people, I connected with some amazing companies. I am really excited to share the new options I have for albums - unlike anything I've seen before. I've got eco-friendly wedding albums, completely made from recycled materials and environmentally friendly inks and glue that look spectacular... I've also got exquisite metallic and acrylic covers, and so many other options that I can't name them all here. Contact me if you'd like to get a custom designed album now ..read more

This year, I have decided to offer "small" photography coverage only. Since many photographers don't accept small weddings, I realize it can be tough to find someone good that will enthusiastically take on your wedding without making you feel like they'd dump it later if something bigger (i.e. better paying) came their way. I want to give you exceptional quality images in 4 hours or less. Quality over Quantity. That's my goal - and I know it can be done. Let's face it, not every one can afford 8 or 10 hours, right? Why should you settle for a mediocre photographer just because you don't have ..read more
