Hi! I recently received offers to study a BSc in Immunology at UCL and Glasgow but I'm having difficulty deciding which one to go for. Honestly, I'm leaning towards UCL atm but if anyone could provide some insight into the degrees, prospects, your time there and any experiences relating to my predicament whatsoever that would be really appreciated! Ofc I'm looking for advice mainly from anyone studying / who has studied at specifically UCL or Glasgow but all advice is appreciated, thanks!

Hello,
I have an offer of an MSc in Immunology from King's and an MSc in Immunology of Infectious Diseases from LSHTM in UK.
I have an undergraduate background in Molecular Biology. I want to get a PhD in the future and plan on going into Industry.
What do y'all think? Which one is better?

Immunotherapy and Cannabis: A Harmful Drug Interaction or Reefer Madness? Prior observational research, cited in clinical practice guidelines, found marijuana decreases the efficacy of nivolumab. Reanalysis found that <5% of their statistics could be verified. There were errors in calculating percentages and confusion over two vs one-tailed statistical tests too!
Summary
Two Israeli studies about medical marijuana potentially interfering with immunotherapies like nivolumab for cancer treatment have received substantial attention. However, there have been anonymous but detailed concerns abo ..read more

Just done with this appliance cycle and it did not work really well. My advisor said that immunology is usually more competitive than the other biological disciplines. I was wondering if this is true and why, or is this just a comfort?

After adding dynabeads to my mouse T cell culture, is removing them few days later necessary? Or can I just leave it in the culture and they will proliferate? Or will it overstimulate?

Hey! I'm a UK based MD/medical doctor and I'm doing an immunology based PhD (details via DM so as not to dox myself).
I have a weird bunch of supervisors and postdocs who are all too busy to help or teach me stuff and I'm being told to design some new experiments.
Skills I might need: PBMC isolation, Flow cytometry (+/- mass spec), RNA seq
My undergrad research was all non immunology lab techniques so completely not relevant and I don't have an undergrad/Masters in immunology aside from what I learnt in med school years ago.
What I've done so far:
Revise immunology (forgot it since medical ..read more

Does anybody know how I could use PCR to check whether there are TCRs in my DNA extractions? I checked the literature but I am confused. Found one paper from 2008 with primers for the V and J genes. The fragment size should be around 500bp. I did a sybr green qpcr and get nice cq values but when I run it on the tapestation I only get bands at 100bp.. does anyone have any advice or refs to primers?

Ik for allergies you can inject someone with the allergen and over time it will disappear. Why can't we do the same for autoimmune diseases(inject someone with the autoantigen they are vulnerable too)?
