General Cigar Co. explains that the most important type of tobacco used in Macanudo Emissary España is grown from Cuban seeds planted near the town of Riolobos in western Spain, near the border with Portugal. The Cumpay line, launched in 1999, was characterized by Nicaraguan tobaccos, used for the composition of the entire blend.
