Family member was prescribed this by a mid level for peripheral neuropathy? I can’t find much in terms of blinded studies. Everything I read is about depression or cancer. Is it that much better than typical vitamin supplements? submitted by /u/ERDRCR [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Spiking High DHEA-S Supressed after Dexamethasone, what does this mean?

After they suspected a tumor producing my DHEA-S over 10 µg/mL (reference under 3.4µg/mL ) I had a dexamethasone supression test for 2 days, the DHEA-S sank (2.1 µg/mL now) Is this a good sign or a bad sign regarding the suspected tumor? An MRI was done and was unclear, resulting in one radiologist seeing a 13mm mass, the other one said it was clear. Is something wrong, or am I crazy?

TLDR: Is something maybe wrong, or am I crazy? I am sure this is a tale as old as time - but I am concerned about being continually dismissed and gaslit by doctors that "everything is normal." I know in my heart of hearts it's not. I finally got in to see an endocrinologist after two years of attempting to set up an appointment (and even being referred by my PCP). The endrochronoliogist I saw ordered a wide range of initial tests - and made clear he didn't expect them to find anything. I have a follow-up appointment coming up with him, and I want to get a sense of whether there may be somethi ..read more

Help! 1.5 years post lipo and body is disproportionate

(Male / mid 30s) I had liposuction of the abdomen and flanks, and gynecomastia to remove gland in my chest. A year and a half later and for some reason my glutes and face are huge. I’ve about 15 pounds below what I was when I went in for surgery, I eat very healthy and workout regularly. I still have tightness in my abdomen. My question is why are my face and glutes so disproportionately large? My plastic surgeon thinks it’s hormones, others have told me he damaged my lymphatic system and therefore there is backup fluid in those areas. I’ve been doing lymphatic drainage for months but haven’t ..read more

Are my hormones too low in general?

hey everyone, I’m hoping someone could shed some light on what story these numbers are telling? I’m 39 and 5 yrs post surgical menopause. I take topical HRT on the following schedule: 25mg testosterone gel every other day, and 0.75mg 17β estradiol gel every 3 days (one pump). When I saw the endocrinologist last week, he said I should be taking more estrogen, or testosterone, and/or both. For context, I’m trans and present quite androgynous. As a side note my done density results looked great. I also used to be severely anemic, to the point that I got a blood transfusion in 2017 followed ..read more

What happens if I split my birth control pills in half?

25 f with lean PCOS. I’ve had horrible acne since right after puberty and the only thing that has helped is birth control. But for whatever reason when I take hormonal birth control it has given me horrible insomnia and anxiety. I just got prescribed Kelnor after having a less than desirable outcome with Yaz. I’m also taking 50mg of spiroalactone. If I split my birth control pills in half do you think the insomnia and anxiety symptoms will be less severe while still helping my acne a bit? Not worried about actual contraception. submitted by /u/Scared_Flounder_4656 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Testosterone Levels Question

First off, I'm gonna try to ask a doctor as soon as I can- and I have no current access to an endocrinologist so I'm hoping someone here may know, I'm ftm 23yo on Testosterone HRT. I'm supposed to do monthly blood tests. I am 2.5 years on HRT For reference, prior to this I did not know I am supposed to do blood test on the same day of the week until a month ago (so one day before injection day), so I have no reference of what my average level is. Haven't been able to do blood test for about 6 months and so I did a blood test on March 26th with Testosterone at 8.2 nmol/L. Lower than male avera ..read more

Missed adrenal adenoma?

26m missed adrenal adenoma? 26m no medications , current medical issue explained here total testosterone at some points being 50% above reference. The units being nmol/L in Europe. The upper end of reference being 30nmol/L and my highest result being 45nmol/L 12ng/ml Recently had catecholamines/metadrenalines tested and they were over reference and had a CT. I was almost certain it'd show an adrenal adenoma but apparently not? What's the chance one was missed? submitted by /u/EmphasisItchy9664 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
