They say that you shouldn't let people grill your style. The last thing you want is a well-done outfit to become a rare occasion... Sounds like something your dad would say, am I right? Over the past couple of weeks, I have been clearing some junk out of my apartment and I came across a couple (A LOT) of old memories, as you do. Notably, I was quite struck by a photo of myself and my dad, when I was a kid. Dad had style!! I may be a few years off the pace, but correct me if I am wrong - what goes around comes around? Me personally, I am used to mocking my dad for his style choices. And now ..read more

A few weeks ago, I spoke about how graphic design can have a profound impact on our daily lives and how it can essentially elevate our experiences, be that practical or emotional. I also noted that I found graphic design to be something that has endless possibilities and that fills me with a great deal of excitement. Little did I know, I would be aligning my self-taught design 'skills' with one of the biggest gin brands in the world, shortly after.  Some say graphic design can save your life. However, if that is true then it is eminently capable of killing you, too. Or so I thought a ..read more

Over the past couple of weeks, I have begun to notice how design has a profound impact on our daily lives. It was never something I would have thought about a great deal in the past, but maybe I never took the time to appreciate it. I don't think others generally do either, or am I just jumping to conclusions here?  Recently, I have delved into graphic design in my work life and this is something I thought I would never have to try to teach myself, especially while already marketing a couple of venues. Having said that, I am in no way complaining. The bossman could see this after all ..read more

How's your head been holding up during these absurd times? It's a strange one when you think about it. We are such social creatures at the end of the day. Coming to the realization that a hug or a handshake can be infectious has been utterly ridiculous, but these are the times we live in. It's not a natural feeling when we have to think about social distancing from one and another for prolonged periods. Although self-isolation protects us from spreading the virus, it will certainly have its repercussions. It has only exacerbated feelings of anxiety and depression for many. Myself included ..read more

Do you remember what you wanted to be as a kid? Maybe that's too vague actually. We all wanted to be anything and everything, am I right? How about during school? Comics jumped out at me during my preteen years. So much so that you would find every Beano and Dandy book just laying around the place. And then you had multiple Marvel and Looney Tunes purchases throughout the year too. Creating, wondering, imaging - they are such important activities for any of us. For me, they ended up consuming me to a point that I wanted to teach art when I 'grew up'. I was told I would never be accepted to a ..read more

It has been 146 days since I last put pen to paper here or fingertip to the keyboard rather. They say distance makes the heart grow fonder but in all honestly, I lost my will for writing for far too long. Way more than I am willing to admit. Over the past couple of months, I have been witnessing the ending of tv shows that I have been watching for the past 15 years and I was convinced that change was good. Painful, but good. So I figured maybe it was time to stop 'Mark My Style'. I had a very fulfilling run, one I made a lot of mistakes on (too many to count tbh), but like most of my childh ..read more

'Bland' and 'Anodyne' - These are words that might actually fool you into thinking that a neutral hue is one that you should pass on. Don't let that happen. Those greys can pack a punch. Wearing a single colour is a classic fashion trick - you are either going to look chic or garish. Having said that, many avoid the colour because feeling grey is a lot more common these days than it ever was so the association is avoided. Today is World Suicide Prevention Day so it's important to note those little mental wins for yourself. Throwing on a grey hoodie (this one in particular) is ..read more

As a kid growing up, I always use to hate the thought of going to the dentist. I think most kids did, am I right? I did the bare minimum with brushing each day (and night if I was made). Then of course there was the excessive brush before you got to the dentist when you thought you had them fooled. One thing I never really liked though was electric toothbrushes. That is until now.  You see most electric toothbrushes only remove some plaque and bacteria, ION-Sei's revolutionary, patented technology not only removes plaque, it also controls the bacteria that causes it, which in turn reduces ..read more

Has anybody else ever played the Game of Life? I use to be obsessed as a kid. Myself and my sister would always play it to no end. Once we whipped it out I knew we were in for an exciting, but detrimental, time. It's one of those cozy comforts I remember from growing up. Speaking of cozy: If I don't feel completely comfortable in a piece of clothing then it has no business being on my clothes rail. When I first saw this oversized knit, it was like love at first sight. It looked as if it was made for me - oversized, funnel neck (you get the picture). Although it is a little short at the back ..read more

A country once traveled

Growing up, I never thought I'd leave the countryside. Well that was until I kick started my soccer career. If only... My childhood was fun when I was torturing my sister and I had a solid group of friends. But there was always something missing: travel. Over the years I have noticed that my life has been incredibly insular; I was only affected by what happened in my very tiny corner of the world. I have left the country twice in the past eight months - more times than the past seven years. It's funny, by design, we love to take a look at the lives of others. Even if it seems a bit intrusiv ..read more
