Polestar 0 Aims For Climate Neutrality By 2030
Auto Verdict | Volvo News and Reviews

Just about every automaker is issuing long-term goals when it comes to carbon neutrality. Volvo-owned Polestar is taking it a step further, announcing the Polestar 0 project. Polestar 0 will be a car that aims to be entirely climate-neutral when it launches by the end of the decade. Understanding the significance of this goal requires some context. Most electric-vehicles built today still produce carbon dioxide through the manufacturing process. Some automakers intend to leverage carbon offsets to mitigates this, meaning they will plant trees to offset the emissions. Polestar calls such offset ..read more

Volvo C40 Recharge: An XC40 With Less Greenhouse
Auto Verdict | Volvo News and Reviews
by Nick Saporito

Volvo is making a lot of new today. Following up from an announcement they’re going all-electric by 2030, the brand is debuting its first pure EV model. The new C40 Recharge may be “all new,” but it’s effectively an XC40 Recharge with less headroom. One does not have to be a Volvo enthusiast to tell the C40 is a lot like the XC40. The styling is largely the same from the belt line down. Sure, there’s some subtle differences in the plastic components, but largely all of the sheet metal is the same as the XC40. Where things divert is in the greenhouse. The C40 is basically a coupe SUV, highlight ..read more

2021 Polestar 2 EPA Range Comes In Under 250 Miles
Auto Verdict | Volvo News and Reviews
by Nick Saporito
3y ago
The EPA ratings for the 2021 Polestar 2 are in and the range figure is a bit lower than expected for the battery-electric sedan. EPA testing shows the Polestar 2 can go 233 miles on a full charge, slightly lower than Polestar’s original estimate of 275 miles per charge. This also positions the Polestar 2 under some existing EV competitors, including the entry-level Tesla Model 3, which can go 250 miles on a full charge. It is worth noting that EPA range estimates tend to be on the conservative side, so Polestar 2 owners will likely see more than 233 miles on a charge at times. The problem is c ..read more

2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge Gets 208 Mile Range Rating
Auto Verdict | Volvo News and Reviews
by Nick Saporito

Volvo’s first battery-electric SUV now has an official range rating from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The 2021 XC40 Recharge will be officially rated at 208 miles of range, which comes in right in line with Volvo’s expectations. The XC40 Recharge has a 78-kWh battery pack under the floor that sends power to two electric motors, generating 402 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque. If those stats sound familiar, that’s because the XC40 Recharge and Polestar 2 utilize the same powertrain. Despite the same powertrain, the Polestar 2 just received a range rating of 233 miles, likel ..read more

Auto Verdict | Volvo News and Reviews
by Nick Saporito

As a spinoff brand of Volvo, Polestar is really just getting started with their quest to be an all-electric vehicle brand. Nonetheless, they’re seeking to give the public a preview of what’s to come from Polestar with the Precept Concept. The Precept is a stunning grand tourer that relies on a whole lot of recycled parts. From the outside, the Precept is not too far off from the Polestar 1 and Polestar 2 production vehicles. Polestar has weaved in the brand’s Thor’s Hammer design trait throughout the exterior, highlighted by very dramatic LED lights upfront. The dramatic lights are accompanied ..read more
