LG V60 ThinQ 5G with Dual Screen: An awfully long name for a phone short on innovation

Update 2/26: LG has provided ballpark pricing for the V60. You don’t actually need to see the LG V60 ThinQ 5G with Dual Screen to know what it is. Based on our experiences during a recent briefing and hands-on opportunity in New York, the V60 clearly looks like LG's V50, V40, G8, and G7. It has a few gimmicks and some unnecessary carrier compromises. And it has a headphone jack. In short, it’s an LG phone. It’s not entirely clear whether it will be the only flagship of 2020 from LG, but if there is a G9 in the works, my guess is that the only difference will be screen size. LG G8X ThinQ review: Finally, a second screen that’s actually kind of useful
Greenbot » LG Electronics

On its own, the LG G8X is a wholly unremarkable phone. It won't break speed tests or turn heads, or blow you away with nighttime shots. It doesn’t even have the time-of-flight gesture tricks that the G8 has. But none of those things should matter to anyone buying an LG G8X. The U.S.-bound dual-screen LG G8X ThinQ is like an SNL parody of the Galaxy Fold

While all eyes are on Samsung and its next-gen Galaxy Fold that transforms from a 4.6-inch phone to a 7.3-inch tablet, LG has its own idea of what a folding phone should be. And it’s almost charming in its immaturity. Instead of a revolutionary display that bends, the LG G8X merely adds a second screen via a snap-on case. It’s kind of like hooking up a second monitor to a laptop—if you wanted a monitor that gets in the way of using the laptop. When attached, the second display adds bulk and weight, and the gap between the displays makes it hard to type on the main screen and nearly impossible ..read more

LG G8 ThinQ review: Gimmicks with a capital 'G'
Greenbot » LG Electronics
by Michael Simon

It’s not enough for LG that the G8 ThinQ has the best processor, a great screen, an impressive battery, and a solid camera. Like nearly every G phone that came before, the G8 also has to be different, and that’s where it gets tripped up.Had LG focused on the things that matter while undercutting its Samsung and Google rivals, it might have had a hit on its hands. Instead, the LG G8 is filled with gimmicks that might be fun initially, but their persnicketiness and general uselessness ultimately frustrate and cheapen the experience. That’s a shame, because underneath all of the gimmicks is really ..read more
