Hello, Based on this article: babypips dot com /learn/forex/forex-vs-futures it is said that the spot market would be more liquid than futures. However, I recently found another blog post that says the futures market has more liquidity: thetradenews dot com /thought-leadership/dispelling-the-myths-around-fx-futures-liquidity/ I am confused. Could anyone explain? 3 posts - 3 participants Read full topic ..read more

The reason why I have stopped (day-)trading breakouts

I am trading since April 2021, which means I am closing in on the 3 year mark. During most of this time I have traded some sorts of breakouts. Every strategy somewhat speculated on the continuation of a recent move on my chosen timeframe. I had very good returns with it in times of high volatility. Problem for me was to keep my profits when price action slowed down. And with more and more hours in front of the charts I realized that slow price action is very common, at least in the market I specialized on (DAX). For every day that price travels a long way up or down, there are several days whe ..read more

Picture this: You are in a new coffee shop. There are 3 options: iced coffee, Americano and latte. What’s your choice? Now imagine your choices are: Americano, Cappuccino, Cafe Breve, Cappuccino, Cortado, Espresso, Latte, Café Mocha, Cold Brew, Flat White, French Press Coffee Frappe, Sparkling espresso, Macchiato. What’s your choice now? You might stick with your normal order, try something new, or copy the guy in front of you in the queue. Regardless, you will typically spend more time and energy making your decision even if the decision you make is ultimately the same as in the first scenari ..read more

Hi, Do you mind answering my below question for my MT5 terminal? I’m wondering if you optimise on broker data or 99% modelling quality data from dukascopy? I’m wondering which is most similar to live data. I can see there is a significant difference between how trades trigger with dukascopy and broker data in my back tests? I am building bots for the5ers and the data is very different to dukascopy Thank you 2 posts - 2 participants Read full topic ..read more

What type of order best to enter? Does it even matter?

Let us explore the question what type of order is best to enter the market? Or does it even matter how we enter the market? Three types of orders. Market orders. Buy or sell at current best bid or offer. Buy stop or sell stop. Pending order at a level you expect the market to break through and gain momentum towards your target. Buy limit or sell limit. Pending order at a level where you expect the market to continue in current direction but no further before reversing to a target. Here are my thoughts. As a small retail trader the impact my entry order type will not have much effect. B ..read more

I had put some of my BTC from another crypto “investment” into Celsius’s Earn program. The first few months were great, I was seeing interest returned etc. and then we all know what happened next. https://www.reuters.com/technology/crypto-lender-celsius-files-bankruptcy-2022-07-14/#:~:text=July%2013%20(Reuters)%20-%20U.S.,dramatic%20plunge%20in%20token%20prices. After they filed for bankruptcy, I knew that was a lost cause which was kind of fine since it was money I was willing to part with anyway (doesn’t make it right ofc, I know so many people whose savings were wiped out from putting their ..read more
