They say to dry clean on the label, but I bought a couple with a lot of stains so am wondering if I could try handwashing them. Any thoughts or suggestions? Is it stupid to even consider handwashing? Thank you for your expertise ..read more

Just found this one on Facebook. I've never seen a dome skirt shape like this before. Is this 1960s? Reminds of that dress Beth-Ann wears in 'How Women Kill ..read more

Does anyone recognize this label? (c.g.?)

Hello! I acquired this woven top at a vintage shop in Canada. It wasn’t expensive but I love the fit and wanted to find one in another color maybe? I like the drape and kimono-esque sleeves. I don’t recognize the label. I found labels for CG Designs and a company called “California Grown” but they don’t match. Posting here to see if anyone has any guesses? There are no other tags on the shirt. View attachment 188129 View attachment 188130 ..read more

How would someone clean vintage acetate taffeta?

I bought this vintage late 50s acetate crazy iridescent taffeta party dress on Ebay last week, there's no current stains on it. But-- if I wear this out and something happens (sweat, food, etc.) gets on it and I need to wash it, what would be the best approach to cleaning acetate taffeta? I saw older posts on here about a 50s acetate dress having 'the suds being worked through it, rinse in water, do not soak' but I am not sure if that dress was taffeta, it didn't look like it or say anywhere... Dating a Giorgio Beverly Hills Handbag

I’m wondering if anyone can help date this Giorgio Beverly Hills bag. I’ve seen the same bag dated by someone else as 1970s, but others with the same closure and mark attributed all the way up to Y2K. I tried looking through their trademark registrations to see if I could pin down based on the font, but I think for this it might be the name rather than the name in this script that was trademarked (unless I missed something) - so, no earlier than ‘75, but I’m not sure what year they changed... Dressing gown or dress?

This feels like a dumb question, but I'm honestly not sure. I have this pretty (I think 80s) piece, which at first I thought was a dressing gown. But the more I look at it the more I wonder if it is supposed to be a wrap dress. It has ties on both fronts; one front tie ties to an interior side seam tie, then the other front wraps over the top and its tie goes with a tie on the opposite side exterior side seam. It's a lightweight synthetic fabric, maybe nylon. It is home made, with pinked... Dressing gown or dress ..read more
