For many of us, owning an RV or caravan is all about the freedom to travel and explore without sacrificing the comforts of home. And one of those comforts is having a bathroom and shower on board. But let’s be honest, caravan showers can be underwhelming. Low water pressure, cheap shower heads, and limited hot water can all contribute to a sub-par showering experience. That’s where EcoCamel comes in.
The EcoCamel shower head is a game-changer when it comes to better water pressure at the caravan’s shower.
This company specialises in RV shower heads that can greatly improve your caravan showeri ..read more

This sleek, modern TV not only looks great but has all the bells and whistles. With quick delivery and simple packaging, we were ready to set up our new TV. When setting up this new TV, we reused the swivel bracket that came with our original TV from the caravan manufacturer, but you can buy a suitable swivel bracket from ENGLAON as an added extra via its website.

In my travelling life, I have had three mishaps involving awnings. The first occurred when I attempted to pull up my 4WD and caravan on a side street in Coffs Harbour. I misjudged the height and position of a particularly bulky tree branch on a nature strip, and as I pulled alongside the kerb, the leading edge of the closed awning caught the branch and the forward motion of the vehicle ensured the awning was torn clean off the caravan.
The second occurred on my 4WD’s awning. I had set it up with my swag underneath for the night, before getting distracted. I forget to immediately peg the awning ..read more

The most important thing you can do before hitting the road: ensure your caravan, tow vehicle and its towbar aren’t overloaded.
Caravans that have been loaded beyond their Aggregate Trailer Mass remain an issue – you only need to glance at some of the popular caravanning Facebook groups to know that. Vehicles loaded beyond their Gross Vehicle Mass and Towball Mass are an issue, too, to say nothing about Gross Combined Mass.
The reality is, police do enforce vehicle and caravan weight, now more than ever. And should a serious accident occur as a result of a non-compliant setup – which is a genu ..read more

There are a number of well-regarded names in the hybrid camper manufacturing industries. One of these is Vista RV. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that this company’s rig, the Crossover, has become a staple of the offroad market. Vista has been manufacturing for over 15 years, whereas its parent company, Prompt Sheetmetal, has been manufacturing components for trailers and the RV industry since the 1980s, and is still supplying parts and components for the camper trailer industry.
The Crossover is available in a few formats – Classic, XLI and XLE – with each maintaining a compact footprint o ..read more

A caravan’s layout is just as important as its build quality, or the features that come standard. I was reminded of how clever a layout can be in April when I hitched up the Atlantic Endeavour. Aside from being a fairly easy van to tow, weighing 2160kg, with an unladen ball weight of 205kg, it offers more spacious living quarters than its 18ft 6in external body length suggests. This is particularly noteworthy when you consider the van contains a split bathroom and rear bunks.
The Atlantic Endeavour is available in an impressive 17 different sizes and layouts, one of which includes an offside ..read more

Caravanning is amazing fun, especially when you find a spot surrounded by sun, water and good friends. So why not hitch-up and head to Portarlington, Vic.
Portarlington is a charming seaside town on the Bellarine Peninsula, just 28km from Geelong and full of things to do and see.
PORTARLINGTON HIGHLIGHTS
One of the highlights of this town is its beautiful beach, which offers a sheltered swimming area and a scenic foreshore, with picnic facilities and a camping ground.
If you’re looking for a place to stay, you can’t go wrong with Bellarine Bayside Holiday Park, which has more than 400 RV ..read more

If you have a look at the coverage maps of any of Australia’s mobile phone telcos, you’ll see that, despite their claims that their networks are growing, there’s still a great swath of the continent that has no mobile coverage at all. In fact, you don’t have to travel too far into regional and remote areas to find yourself out of mobile phone range. If you’re a caravanner whose sole method of communication is a mobile phone, and you encounter an emergency situation, you could easily find yourself without any means of contacting the emergency services. That’s why you must consider carrying a sa ..read more

Access to power when you’re camping or caravanning can mean the difference between a memorial trip and one you’d rather forget.
There are, of course, plenty of ways to achieve this access, from a direct connection to a mains powerpoint, to a basic 100Ah deep-cycle battery. Or, you could consider a portable lithium power station. These are fantastic devices which, as their name suggests, comprise a lithium-ion battery, 240V powerpoints, an inbuilt inverter, a solar regulator, and even 12V and USB charging outlets.
They are usually available in capacities ranging from 1000W AC to more than 2000W ..read more

These Asian-style pork burgers are as mouth-watering as they look!
Ingredients
500gm of pork mince
Two chopped spring onions
One egg
One teaspoon of ginger
Coriander powder
Salt/pepper
One tablespoon of white vinegar
Coleslaw mix
Mayonnaise
Sweet chilli sauce
Buns to serve
Method
Pour a little bit of vinegar over the coleslaw mix to provide a ‘pickling effect’, which goes well with Asian-style burgers, and mix it together well.
Place the pork mince in a bowl, and add the spring onions, a large teaspoon of ginger, the egg, the coriander, a pinch of salt and the pepper. Knead the mixture ..read more
