President Joe Biden’s censorship efforts with Big Tech companies have shocked even a federal judge, who asked the administration last week whether the president’s staff had ever read George Orwell’s famous dystopian novel “1984,” because the court case reminded him so much of the censorship in that book.
Judge Terry A. Doughty, chief district judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, asked the question in a hearing May 26 on the ongoing case of Missouri v. Biden, focusing on the administration’s efforts with Big Tech to censor free speech. The administration’s law ..read more

ORLANDO, Fla.—Israel recently celebrated its 75th anniversary, and many Jews and Christians see the state’s existence as a fulfillment of biblical prophecy, but a former Israeli general also raised the alarm about the growing threats from Iran and its allies in the East.
“Things have changed dramatically in the last year,” Amir Avivi, a retired brigadier general in the Israeli Defense Forces, told The Daily Signal in an interview at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention last week. “We’ve seen the East moving towards adapting to the sanctions the West is imposing in the last year, espe ..read more

The three-year anniversary of the Lafayette Square and Black Lives Matter riots in the nation’s capital has come and gone without much media fanfare.
These apparently forgotten riots, and the harsher official response to the Capitol riot seven months later, say much about our media landscape and rapidly transforming legal system.
On May 29, 2020, a riot in front of the White House in Lafayette Square prompted a lockdown to protect then-President Donald Trump and the first family.
At the time, four days after George Floyd’s death in police custody in Minneapolis, many in the media portray ..read more

Missouri and 17 other states have filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration over what they call its “unlawful open-border policies.”
“The situation at the southern border is out of control, all thanks to Joe Biden,” Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey said in a statement announcing the lawsuit. “He refuses to carry out his constitutionally mandated responsibilities, so we’re taking him to court to force him to do his job.”
The lawsuit argues that President Joe Biden’s “lawful pathways” rule, which was implemented after the end of Title 42 in May, worsens the s ..read more

A Vermont school district punished a father and his daughter for speaking out against against a biological male in the girls’ locker room. Now, The Daily Signal has learned, the district has settled with the Allen family in what its legal team is hailing as a “resounding victory.”
That settlement requires that the Vermont School Boards Insurance Trust pay $125,000 in damages and attorneys’ fees and costs to Travis Allen and Jessica Allen, on behalf of their daughter, Blake Allen, and their attorneys with the Alliance Defending Freedom.
Under the settlement, the district will reinstate Travis A ..read more

Spy balloons hovering high overhead in U.S. airspace are one thing, but the Chinese Communist Party also has interests on the ground here.
Take Alfred University, for example. Alfred is a small (1,600 students), private institution in upstate New York. It is not known for much, but it has one important distinction; namely, its College of Ceramics, which is a national leader in materials science.
Back when the U.S. was designing its space shuttle program, ceramics vaulted into public view as an art concerned with more than making decorative clay pots. The heat shields that allow rocket ships to ..read more

The headline blared “Oklahoma Supreme Court Rules Abortion Laws Unconstitutional.”
Wait, what? In Oklahoma?
Yes, in two recent decisions, the Oklahoma Supreme Court decided that three recently enacted pro-life laws violated the state constitution.
While abortion advocates are claiming victory, the state Legislature can easily correct those narrow decisions.
Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court overruled its decisions in Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which invented and affirmed a constitutional right to abortion. In Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the court held that b ..read more
