continued from my previous post Second day in Lubango same guide and same agency. Went to Serra da Leba, a highlight. Drove across the lowland plains to Namibe where we visited Porto Mineralheiro. After our guide had spoken to the police post we were admitted without any fuss. So-so lunch at Clube Nautico in downtown Namibe. Slow service. Our guide was very late to pick us up and we had to ask the Portuguese owner of the restaurant to call the tour agent's office (however our guide answered the call and arrived in 5 min to P/U - he had some bad excuses). Viewed a group of Welwithschia flow ..read more

I and another Swede were in Angola for 17 days in November 2019. Angola was my second to last UN country. Yemen was the last. I went to Yemen in February 2020, before the onset of the current corona virus crisis. I hope my travelogue below can inspire future travelers to Angola. PRE-TRIP Planned thoroughly using the Bradt guide and input from open online sources such as the Lonely Planet Thorn Tree as well as closed Facebook groups (you can apply for membership) for globetrotters such as Every Passport Stamp (EPS), Off the Beaten Path and the Swedish Club100. This all helped a lot. My travel c ..read more

From 14.00h. 13th. April 2020 the TT becomes a read only forum, pausing for now until the World over-comes the crises Covid-19 generated for tourists and travellers, and the workers in travel and hospitality industries world-wide, not least Morocco. Hopefully the TT will revive when the crisis passes.... Inshallah Last post at: 2020-04-13 09:19:43 UTC ..read more

LP TT Forum Closing Monday

You should see an official announcement soon, but on Monday Thorn Tree will become read-only. 14:00 UTC These are uncertain times for us all, and while we certainly hope that Thorn Tree will be back online in the future, the moderation team will sadly be saying goodbye after many years. It has been mentioned in another thread by @andreas_at_lp but if you have any topics you would like to bookmark or users you would like to stay in contact with, now would be the best time to do so. Have a Happy and Healthy Future. Last post at: 2020-04-12 14:27:16 UTC ..read more
