UPDATE: I wrote this Blog mid 2019, since then, we have been through a global pandemic and the impact of Covid-19 on Mental Health has been catastrophic. Now more than ever, we need to take care of our mental health so please take the time to read this blog and consider the benefits.  28th February 2022 It’s a well-known fact that exercise makes you feel good, you may feel like you are dying during the activity (that’s what my students tell me anyway!) but afterwards, you feel invincible, ready to take on the world (after you’ve had a nice hot shower and collapsed on the sofa)! Covid almost destroyed my fitness business and one of my saving graces was Online Personal Training. I’ve trained some amazing people and made an impact on so many lives over the last two years, it’s been a pleasure. Fast forward to December 2021, the time for reflection before a new year is upon and I’ve made the decision to stop Online Personal Training in 2022. My Reasons New Career I’m in my final year at uni and my end goal is to get a teaching job when I finish. Menopause Symptoms are the stuff of nightmares, they are like stories that people talk about and you find yourself cringing and praying that you will never experience them! At the age of 44, I find myself thinking about the menopause more frequently. Some of those whispers are starting to feel a bit more real and I’m not a fan! What is the Menopause? The NHS Website states the following: The menopause is when a woman stops having periods and is no longer able to get pregnant naturally. The day had finally arrived and I was filled with a mixture of nerves and excitement – This might sound quite strange to some people as I’ve been in the industry for years. I’m often told that I always seem really calm and together whether I’m teaching a class of 20 or presenting to 200 people at Fit Jam. Want to know a secret? I’m always nervous when delivering something new for the first time because I want to nail it and for the people attending to enjoy themselves. I believe this makes me a better instructor and so Buggy Beat was yet another challenge for me to face and overcome. I’d be ..read more

Running a fitness business during a time when you couldn’t be within two metres of another person was always going to have its challenges. I took my business online last year and I currently run group fitness classes and a full PT client list with clients across the UK.    As the world slowly starts to migrate back towards a sense of normality, I knew I had to look at my business differently. I couldn’t go back to the way things were, it wasn’t going to be possible to have a full studio again, so I had to find another way to increase revenue.   The New String   I decided ..read more

Last year I wrote about my hopes/goals for 2020 – No one could have foreseen the craziness that this year was going to bring! As we move into 2021, I am a little apprehensive about what the future may bring but it’s not going to stop me from setting my intentions! I’ve achieved more in the last 12 months than I have done in a long time and I put it down to my survival instincts kicking in.  Studying wasn’t something I thought i’d do much of, I was wrong! And yes I will add a list of my achievements because I’m proud of myself! I moved my physical business online, started a new job and ..read more

There’s a common misconception that weight training will make you bulky. I find this extremely frustrating as it’s actually one of the best ways to burn fat and get that ‘toned look’ you are looking for! Understanding the Myth In order for us (ladies) to bulk up, we would need to produce a large amount of the hormone testosterone – This is a male hormone and we only produce a minute amount, nowhere near enough to make any difference to our bodies if we decided to lift weights! Benefits of Weight Training Here are a few things that can happen as a result of lifting weights: Burn Fat Lose Wei ..read more
