There are few truths in the universe; Sean Pettit’s content is undeniably good, there’s no bad Greek food and Fieberbrunn is one of the greatest freeride meccas on earth. Stop four of the 2024 Freeride World Tour (FWT) was yet another entertaining and record-setting event. This was the first of the two final stops. The cut following the previous stop three in Georgia left only five women and 10 men standing in each field. This allowed for each rider to have two runs, taking the best score. This format certainly has its benefits for the riders, but with interesting weather and variable conditio ..read more

In a triumphant return to Wild Mountain, Minnesota, this March, iconic skier Phil Casabon (AKA B-Dog), known for his undeniable style and influence, ended an 11-year hiatus. The last time Casabon and Inspired Media graced the hills of Wild was in 2015 for the Inspired Ski Movie Tour with the likes of Eric Iberg (who is the incredibly talented filmer for Inspired), Henrik Harlaut and Paul Bergeron. B-Dog’s comeback to the Midwest was not only to show some love to a special part of the country but, more importantly, to give underrated skiers a chance to be seen a ..read more

With the amount of emerging competition these days, ‘Break Out Skier of the Year’ has become one of the most prestigious awards at iF3. Xander Guldman took home the title last year, and while there are so many names that were up for debate, it’s no surprise that the young American took the top seat. His blend of style and technicality is rarely found and is reminiscent of a blend between Sam Kuch and Sander Hadley. Strong, precise riding that leaves you questioning how the f*ck they got that grab or even saw that line in the first place. It’s mesmerizing skiing in the best possible way. Take a ..read more

Adrià Millan Pla is your back-to-back January and February Line of the Winter champ—and for good reason. This wild Argentinian backcountry line earned him the second skier slot and a bag of cash from GoPro. He plows down an insane line with stunning views the whole way down. This year’s judges, Jamie Anderson, Tom Wallisch, Sage Kotsenburg, Hedvig Wessel and Kai Jones, picked Millan Pla as the February winner out of hundreds of submissions based on athletic performance, video quality and overall wow factor.
With the snow dumping in the Northern Hemisphere this month, we’re betting that the Mar ..read more

How did Jib League get its feet under it? From zero to 100, it seemed as though this new event came from no where last winter and was an instant favorite among both professional riders and fans alike. With no judges and no usual competition format, it truly is a special event to say the least. “The League” is a full documentary following three of the usual suspects, Ferdinand Dahl, James “Woodsy” Woods and Øystein Bråten, as they attempt to create a new future in freeskiing.
Unlike normal competitions, the league has no judges. The riders are selected to compete in a pro category, and then the ..read more

Sämi Ortlieb has long been on a mission to break down the barriers of freeskiing. His interests were never set on competitions, podiums or medals. While he possessed the talent, he left behind the desire to compete on the Swiss National Team as a young rider, knowing that an Olympic training path was not for him. Instead, Ortlieb poured his hard work and dedication into other areas of skiing. From incredible street features to wild work behind the camera, he is one of the more accomplished freeskiers around. His riding is as creative yet technical a ..read more

Headbud heads for Japan! In an absolute beauty of a three-minute edit, Josh Absenger, Luggi Brucic, alongside filmer Fabi Hayden and photographer Sebastien (Bastl) Höllward, take us through the sacred forests of Hokkaido, Japan’s legendary northern island. If you didn’t know, the North Island tends to receive some of the greatest snow on Earth, both in quantity and quality. The light flakes fall from the heavens, being ushered to the island by cold Siberian winds. It’s not only the snow that makes Hokkaido such an incredible destination, however. It’s also the surroundings. The densely packed ..read more

On Saturday, February 24, we were really in the swing of things at the Arc’teryx Backcountry Academy. On a trip of this caliber, days are jam-packed with educational seminars, on-snow clinics with a number of interesting focuses and some seriously fun skiing.
We started the day bright and early with an all-woman photo clinic by the Arc’teryx Senior Photographer, Angela Percival. Percival and Lucy Sackbauer (our ski model for the day) joined us the night prior for dinner, so we had context about their bright personalities and career backgr ..read more

You know how they say doing something over and over again makes you insane? Well here at the FREESKIER Gear Lab, we’ve been putting that argument to the test, and it turns out we’ve cracked the code. We’re into our third week of gear testing here in Vail, Colorado, and we have yet to report any signs on insanity. A case of powder fever here and there, but that’s all! Yes, we’re switching up the skis and the terrain, and yes, Vail has more than 5,000 acres for us to explore, but we think the experiment still stands. Boots, outerwear ..read more
