I was speaking with a friend at my Rotary meeting about his new business. It wasn’t a furniture business. It was a local personal services business. But I thought our conversation might be of interest to my Furniture World readers.
My friend had no clue how to market his new local business online.

Franchise Group, Inc. (FRG) has announced a restructuring support agreement (RSA) with its first lien lenders, covering around 80% of its first lien debt. The agreement aims to streamline FRG’s debt load, increase liquidity, and support core brands Pet Supplies Plus, The Vitamin Shoppe, and Buddy’s Home Furnishings for sustainable growth.

MLILY USA, a Knoxville-based mattress manufacturer, partnered with local retailers to donate over 1,500 mattresses to communities in Florida and North Carolina impacted by recent hurricanes. The donations took place across four events on November 1 and 2, organized in collaboration with Sleep Pros USA in Florida and Enza Home Furnishings in North Carolina.
Sleep Pros USA, owned by Corey Haney, hosted two events in Florida. The first took place on November 1 in Bradenton. The second Florida event followed on November 2 on Anna Maria Island.

MONTHLY RESULTS New Orders
According to our latest survey of residential furniture manufacturers and distributors, new orders were down 7% in August 2024 compared to August 2023, which follows the 5% year over year decline last month. Approximately 40% of the participants reported an increase in orders in August 2024 compared to a year ago. However, new orders were up 12% compared to the prior month of July 2024. Year to date through August 2024, new orders are still up 1% compared to 2023, though that spread has continued to narrow with the last four months’ declines.

Planned Furniture Promotions (PFP) welcomed an unprecedented crowd at its ‘Saddle Up’ benefit party at High Point Market, raising $14,000 in donations for City of Hope and hurricane relief efforts. The western-themed gathering, complete with a mechanical bull, brought together the industry’s best in a powerful show of generosity.
Out of the 20 VIP industry guests invited, 12 attended the event and took a turn posing with or riding the mechanical bull, named Hope for the beneficiary of funds raised that evening. For each of those guests, PFP donated $500 to City of Hope. To honor the full invit ..read more

The International Casual Furnishings Association has added two membership managers to its staff, one for the West Coast and one for the East Coast.
Candy Chase, who most recently was national sales manager for Treasure Garden, is responsible for the West Coast, and Jill Schiff is covering the East Coast.

The American Home Furnishings Alliance (AHFA) announces that the second annual Furniture Safety Week will be October 6-10, 2025.
The industry wide campaign was launched this year to raise consumer awareness of furniture-related safety issues, particularly those that impact small children.
The first national campaign, held earlier this month, involved dozens of national furniture brands, as well as retailers, home-focused shopping centers, e-commerce sites, interior designers, childproofing experts and child safety advocates, including Parents Against Tip-overs and Kids in Danger.
