The Gift of Presenting The Feldenkrais Method® is situated within a wide community of movement and somatic practices. It was a thrill to take my ‘place at the table’ at this conference filled with Somatic Psychologists, Performance Artists, Social Activists and Community Builders to name a few. Title: Between You and Me   Description: With its roots in martial arts principles such as grounding, yielding, timing, simplicity and efficient action, Feldenkrais movement lessons can transform conditioned habits of moving thinking and relating into limitless options for responding to life. Whenever the topic starts with this long, wandering, ‘famous’ nerve - there’s no predicting where the conversation might end up. As one of 12 cranial nerves that influences everything from swallowing to our heart rate to stomach acid production to our ‘gut’ feelings, it’s useful to establish that a few organizing principles . To organize my own thinking on this matter, I decided to bring some resources together on one post. It has both sensory and motor branches. The Poly part of Polyvagal refers to the 3 branches, and the 4 nuclei It has inspired the Polyvagal Theory by Stephen Porges w ..read more

The other morning, as it happened, I was moved by nearby call of a delicate nuthatch. I was already out in a local ravine, enjoying a short break in the extreme weather. But it wasn’t until the small surprise of this little bird so near that something inside me was moved - from the inside out. When I am moved by those small and fleeting gifts - then somehow I am filled with hope for life, and the power of listening, presence, stillness and simplicity ..read more

My long-held dream to collaborate with another teacher and another approach came true in August 2022! We created a group 'container', from our shared intention, designed to invite a group of ‘movers’ of many and varied abilities, ages and experience - into the unknown ..read more

Feldenkrais and Friendship: a series of collaborations With our precious, vulnerable World in such need of a sane, unified response, I am moved to aim higher and wider as I continue to rethink what I do and why. For any one of us in a position to drive change - there is hope in the framework of ‘a more beautiful world’. One in which each of us lives to our heartfelt capacity- as an expression of authenticity, compassion, flexibility & creativity. And this cannot happen in isolation, but in friendship, love and connection. From these feelings and thoughts, the idea to collaborate was bo ..read more

One thing worth remembering (among many) about the value of Feldenkrais: it’s a powerful tool to work with habits of all kinds. The ones you know about and the ones that are in the background causing havoc without your awareness. Kind of like apps in the background draining your battery. Habits good and bad are intrinsic to getting on with the business of life: all the driving, all the exercise, all the sitting, all the routine chores and repetitive movement that implies. A habit has a mind of its own….but what’s on the other side of habitual, repetitive unconscious ways of moving and being?
