Two New Specialized Outboard Engines Are Highly Use-Specific.
Marine propulsion systems have many components and are designed to power vessels through the water. Inboards, outboards, even sails harness a source (fuel or electricity or wind) to get you moving along. Each system is built specifically to a vessel’s requirements, and though there are similarities in the method, they are not all the same. That’s easy to understand when you think of an inboard engine built for a freighter and an outboard built for a center console; they’re not interchangeable and provide a precise power range for t ..read more

Weekly Market Outlook By Donn Goodman May 08, 2023
Welcome back readers, good to have you here.
It was a week filled with anxiety as the Federal Reserve was meeting and investors were awaiting their interest rate guidance.
Wednesday, Jerome Powell and Company announced that they were maintaining a “neutral” posture which for inflation hawks that meant no imminent hike in interest rates they had hoped would be the “next” action taken.
For optimists feeling that the Fed policy has been too restrictive, it provided hope that interest rate cuts ..read more

Easy to make, these boat-friendly nacho recipes are a great snack on the water. Each recipe serves 4 people. Nachos create an instant party atmosphere. They are fun to eat and quick to make for serving with impromptu cocktails. Plus, you can make nachos from leftovers and/or canned pantry ingredients. Once, on a boat delivery, we made delicious chicken nachos with canned chicken, canned tomatoes, jarred queso, chili powder, cumin, and pickled jalapeños. Below are my favorite boat-friendly nacho recipes. Taco Meat Nachos Taco Meat: 1 lb. ground beef * 1 p ..read more

The Sunseeker Predator 75: A powerful, strong, and fast yacht with a luxurious touch
I was standing on the upper deck of the new Sunseeker 100, which has the attributes of a personal cruise ship, at the recent Miami boat show when I spotted the Predator 75 among Sunseeker’s lineup of yachts. The sleek styling brought back memories of when I went on a test ride a month earlier.
I have to admit that I didn’t look up any information about the yacht prior to the ride, so my first impression when I saw her was that of finally being able to experience a fast yacht. The word yacht d ..read more

Introduction to TimeZero and Marine Crowdsourcing TimeZero pulls together data for ultra-efficiency.
Crowdsourcing is a powerful way to gather and organize data and make marine navigation safer and better. For example, if you are underway and can make a note using a marine app about a new and present danger, like a partially sunk boat along a well-traveled waterway, that information could avert a disaster.
One definition of crowdsourcing is “the practice of obtaining information or input into a task or project by enlisting the services of a large number of people, either paid or unpaid, typic ..read more

Welcome back to our loyal readers and subscribers. We appreciate that several of you reached out these past few weeks with your comments about our services and the kind things you shared about this weekly column, the Big View bullets, and Keith’s videos. THANK YOU!

Maple Magic: New England’s Sugaring Off Season – Each Recipe Serves 4.
Born and raised in New Hampshire, I have fond memories of spring “sugaring off” when New Englanders collect sap from their maple trees to cook down into delicious maple syrup. These wonderful memories serve as inspiration for this month’s New England maple recipes fit for the galley.
Brief History and Process
Weather and longer days determine the beginning and end of sap production. They cause physiological changes in trees which encourages them to begin converting stored starch into sugar. We had three large maple trees in ..read more

A Legacy of Women’s Triumphs in Sailing
Recent accomplishments by women in the yachting industry strengthen the realization that boating is for everybody whether in competitive sailing or as an industry professional.
Jeanne Barret | 18th century print. Originally found in Navigazioni di Cook del grande oceano e intorno al globo, Vol. 2 (1816) d’après Cristoforo Dall’Acqua (1734-1787).
Although Jeanne Baret had to disguise herself as a man in 1766 to get aboard a French naval ship (women were banned from the ships at the time), she was able to join botanist (and lover) Philibert Commerçon as ..read more

The Turks and Caicos may just be a small archipelago, but there is so much to do.
It’s easy to get to the Turks and Caicos. Just hug the west side of the Bahamas in a southeasterly direction and you’ll run right into them. You’ll have to keep an eye out, though, because the Bahamas islands don’t just line up like a highway lane, and there’s a lot of water to cross once you pass Acklins Island, not to mention any weather. Of course, you could always take to the air. There are many flights, including direct, not only from the Caribbean, but also from major cities along the U.S. Eastern Se ..read more
