Ahead of its 2024 expansion with the addition of new members Texas and Oklahoma, the Southeastern Conference released each team’s conference foes on Wednesday night to show a preview into what life in the new SEC will be like — including the lack of divisions. The Big Spur USC’s offense was unable to get anything going South Carolina’s offense went back to its unproductive ways in the second game of the Gainesville Super Regional, as the Gamecocks were blanked 4-0 by Florida to end their season. The Gators got on the board early, going up 2-0 in the second inning after BT Riopelle walked and Luke Heyman singled with one out, then later scored on a double by Colby Halter. The Big Spur USC lost the lead late and couldn’t quite rally enough South Carolina got off to a hot start but missed chances to build a big early lead against Florida on Friday night and couldn’t recover from losing the lead, dropping the first game in the Super Regional 5-4. The Gamecocks got on the board early, going up 1-0 in the first inning when Will McGillis hit a leadoff homer. The Big Spur USC outscored its opponents 41-14 in the Regional 1-seed South Carolina rolled to a 16-7 win over 2-seed Campbell in the Columbia Regional on Sunday night, punching their ticket to the Super Regionals next weekend. The Camels got on the board early, taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a home run by Logan Jordan. The lead was short-lived, though, as the Gamecocks answered in the next inning. The Big Spur USC advanced in the winner’s bracket 1-seed South Carolina beat 3-seed North Carolina state 6-3 to advance in the winner’s bracket of the Columbia Regional. The game was scoreless until the third, when the Gamecocks took a 2-0 lead after Will McGillis walked with two outs and Braylen Wimmer went yard. USC broke things open in the fifth. The Big Spur USC’s offense erupted to start this round of play 1-seed South Carolina got off to a hot start in the Columbia Regional, trouncing 4-seed Central Connecticut State 19-1 on Friday night to advance to the winner’s bracket. After leaving the bases loaded in the first, the Gamecocks cashed in on another bases loaded situation in the second.
