Seabourn 's Outrageous & Vindictive Conduct - It Is Time For You to Abandon the Seabourn Ship

Goldring Travel's Website is Temporarily Down, but WE ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS!  (And I am temporarily posting from my old blog...so I am not going to be silenced! ?) Why? Because yesterday Seabourn - temporarily - caused the Goldring Travel website to be shutdown over a claim that I used two (2) photographs - on only three of the over 2,000 webpages - that Seabourn now claims their use violates its copyrights and trademarks. Again, this was done without notice to me. Seriously, Seabourn is being that petty and that vindictive. I have been dealing with what I perceive as&nbs ..read more

CDC's Requirements to Repatriate Cruise Ship Crew Clearly is Prejudiced and Designed to Fail.

Once again I see anti-cruise line headlines; this time by the Miami Herald stating that the cruise lines "refuse" to repatriate over fifty thousand cruise worldwide because it is "too expensive".  Once again, the article is, for the most part, accurate, but it does not really tell an accurate story or reflect what the headline is communicating.  The issue is really "What and why does the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have the requirements -only for cruise ships - and are they reasonable under the circumstances?" Here is the reality and, to be sure, I find it both ethically tr ..read more

What Does the CDC and the Media Have Against the Cruise Industry? Facts Should Matter...Egos, Hype and Ratings Shouldn't

"If I knew then, what I will learn tomorrow!" For reason that I believe are based upon prejudice/bias, lack of information, the need for sexy headlines, and even ego (among other things), there have been, and will continue be, an improper attack on the cruise industry; including a singular shift of responsibilities from individuals and governments to cruise lines and, to be sure, at higher levels than is imposed upon any other industry. This is a long article which, in large part, is my personal journey analyzing the past, present, and probable future. It is not a "pitch". It is not inten ..read more

Goldring Travel has some very special deals for you! But before I let you know about them: Three years ago today, while in Myanmar, I had one of the best soups; and I always am on the lookout for soup during my travels. I still remember sitting on a tiny stool at a tiny table on the side of a tiny street with a big bowl of deliciousness with my head on fire from the spices looking at the big smile of the woman who created it seeing how much I enjoyed her cooking. We need to remember, and embrace, that not only does travel give us experiences, it gives experiences to those we openly enga ..read more

The World has been through many ordeals...many far worse than COVID-19. We will survive and eventually thrive, just like we always have. The past month has been an ordeal for many; some emotional, some financial, some both.  And we have made it through it not really knowing how - or even at times why - we would.  We also know we are not done going through this and don't know when we will. But we do know we will get through this and that there is an end. That "end" will happen because the world will not shut down forever. It can't. It won't.  However that "end" - or, better, "new beginning ..read more

While you are engaged in Social Spacing/Social Distancing: Keep Yourself Dreaming! (Yes, I took this photo on a Safari in Kenya - A Travel Idea?) The past three weeks have been chaotic to say the least. And with those having travel plans, it has been - for many - nothing short of an emotional and logistical ordeal. For those with travel plans now through mid-April 2020, at least there is some finality (other than possibly whether to take a Future Cruise or Travel Credit with a bonus of 25% or more or a refund and canceling air and hotels). By the way, you are going to need some patience to ge ..read more

COVID-19: Attacking the Cruise Industry is a Cheap and Meritless Shot. Enough of the Hype, Fear & Media Circus. What are the Facts?

This is not a political article. This is not a sales pitch. This is an attempt to interject some sanity and rational thought to a viral situation that, other than to a small minority, should not really impact the lives of billions (that's right: billions) of people. There is a battle going on regarding the coronavirus known as COVID-19. The battle is between government, the media and reality. And I am not just talking about President Trump only being worried about keeping his numbers down  (the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the US) resulting in his demanding a Princess cruise ship b ..read more

Before I get to the Seriously Special Seabourn Pricing, obviously the coronavirus, or COVID-19, situation has significantly impacted the travel industry and will for some time. If you have not yet read my article: Coronavirus COVID-19: A Luxury Travel Agent's Perspective. Unfortunately, the media has really jumped on this story and it has created panic, emotional responses and perceptions that just are not accurate. Whether it is the reports that Milan is shut down (one of my longest and most responsible suppliers posted videos this past weekend of crowds of Milanese celebrating the warm weat ..read more
