The City of Austin Economic Development Department announces a new round of funding through the Nexus Grant to support local small organizations, individual artists, and small arts businesses. The program will offer $5,000 grants to new and emerging applicants by funding creative public activities. Grant funds may be used to cover expenses such as administrative costs, equipment and space rentals, marketing, and other eligible expenditures. City of Austin City Council finally gets it right. After creating and offering former Chief of Police Art Aceveda a $270,000 Assistant city manager position with no community input.
After deliberations behind closed doors Tuesday, Austin City Council intends to move forward with T.C. Broadnax as its next city manager, according to a city council message board post from Mayor Kirk Watson.
City council members still need to vote next Thursday, April 4, to direct its search firm to negotiate a contract with Broadnax, according to the post.

McCallum soccer player Austin Gourrier, who tallied five total goals in the Knights’ 3-0 win over LBJ on Feb. 21 and 5-0 win over Northeast on Feb. 24, was voted the Covert Chevrolet Bastrop Austin-Area Boys Athlete of the Week for Feb. 19-24.
Gourrier received 45% of the vote.
