In the attached picture of nm-applet window, there is no dialog where I can enter in the one-time-key I get when I try to log into work VPN. I am sure this worked yesterday. What happened to the dialog box? This window is missing a dialog box that I would enter my OTK under \"To authenticate...\" submitted by /u/nwp92a [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Wayland + Nvidia + Gtk4 + Fractional Scaling

I’ve been dealing with a real annoying issue when trying to use fractional scaling to make my 27” 1080p the same size as my 27” 1440p monitor. I am using Fedora 40 Workstation, kernel 6.8.7-300, nvidia drivers 550.76-1. I have my 1080p monitor set to 0.75 scale through ~/.config/monitors.xml. First of all, this is not a gnome issue as the issue persists in KDE as well. Its just more prevalent in gnome since it uses gtk4 more. Originally I thought it could be a gtk4 issue as it occurred across DEs specifically on gtk4 apps. Later I found that this wasn’t the case when I recorded my screen; eve ..read more

How can I figure out what's taking up my / disk space on Fedora Silverblue?

Hello. I've been using Fedora Silverblue for several years, and lately have been having problems with disk space on /. I can't even update anymore as I don't have enough disk space. I've already removed my spare deployment, so I only have just one deployment that shows up when I run rpm-ostree status. I've already run the following commands to try to clear up more disk space: sudo journalctl --vacuum-time=2d rpm-ostree cleanup -bm rpm-ostree cleanup --repomd sudo ostree prune flatpak uninstall --unused Despite all this, GNOME Files says I have 300 MB free out of 73.4 GB. Well I tried updating to Fedora 40 and it seemed to work fine with no issues until I rebooted the system. it's been stuck at 0% for quite some time now and none of the function keys show the terminal or anything so I don't know how to begin diagnosing the issue. Did anyone else have something similar happen? submitted by /u/MicrowavedTheBaby [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

After updating to F40, I got some issues with a few 3D apps crashing. I have a suspicion that my 3D app might not be fully starting with NVIDIA card, but rather mixed NVIDIA/Intel with UI on intel/viewport on NVIDIA, which is what i do not want. Therefore even if i see app in question on nvidia-smi, this does not mean its 100% on nvidia. But how can I verify that correctly ? I have been using those env vars before app starts to "force" it to nvidia card so far (is it still valid on F40?): export __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia; export __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 submitted by /u/tmdag [vis ..read more

My experience with Fedora 40 with KDE Plasma 6 (and Fractional Scaling)

I know I am a little late as Fedora 40’s release was 2 days ago, but I would still like to share my (quite positive, for the most time) experience with it and KDE Plama 6. So, yesterday evening I upgraded to Fedora 40. For some reason it did take quite a long time, somewhere around 40 minutes to install. The reason for that is probably that I have over 7 thousand packages installed on my system (at least 2 thousand is stuff needed for LaTeX). A lot of the things I am going to discuss now are mostly related to the way multi-monitors with different scale factors on wayland are handled (name ..read more

Some flatpak apps refuse to open on fresh Fedora KDE spin install

I don't get it. They work perfectly fine on the X11 session of KDE. And the apps that don't open worked completely fine when I used GNOME earlier today. The apps in question are ArmCord and VSCodium. Only ArmCord gave me somewhat useful logs which I have attached. I know Xwayland works though because both GIMP (native) and Steam (native and flatpak) open and work fine. Is this a KDE 6 issue? How to fix? (Also, I apologise if this isn't the right place to post this, I didn't know where else to go) https://preview.redd.it/bjfnsq6zpowc1.png?width=1044&format=png&auto=webp&s=58c80 ..read more
