We were in Providence and decided to make our way over to Atwells.
We actually ended up at an outside table at Constantino’s Venda Bar & Ristorante on DePasquale Square, in the heart of Federal Hill — and we had THE best time!

Now it might seem counterintuitive to head to the city on a scorching hot June day, but I can honestly say that we were cool as cukes underneath the not one but two umbrellas (an orange “Aperol Spritz” one and another larger cream colored version just above that) shading our table.
Also, the famous fountain ..read more

Jerusalem, East Matunuck (aka, JEM)
You Won’t Wanna SKIP This One!
An online acqaintance was out and about at this micro cafe in Jerusalem (a fishing village in Gansett that faces Galilee) and the minute I saw it, just knew I had to get there asap.
They refer to themselves as a JEM because of where they are situated, Jerusalem — East Matunuck.
Skip’s Cafe is open 7am to 2pm Tuesday thru Sunday from Memorial to Labor Day and is the perfect spot to grab cold drinks, coffee on ice, pastries, ice cream and more either before the beach (East Matunuck is just up the road a bit) or during when you n ..read more

Monday At The Crow’s NEST
This past weekend, I decided, completely at the last minute, I wanted to pick-up clam cakes, chowder, lobster rolls for dinner for the fam.
That’s how the hubs and I ended up motoring over to the Apponaug section of Warwick to Crow’s Nest…and stumbling on CHANGING TIDES, the cutest gift shop around that also happens to feature an amazing selection of Apponaug merch (sweatshirts, tees, totes, baseball style hats, maps, and more).
Let me just tell you that the food (clam cakes, red and white chowder, fish n’ chips, cole slaw, and lobster rolls) was fantastic. I mean, m ..read more

Last night we were on our way to a book signing in Warren at Inkfish Books when I spotted a sign for something called The Box which piqued my interest immediately.
Turns out that The Box is an entirely adorable SEASONAL taco trailer truck on Child Street, right next to the brand new Del’s Depot (yet another reason to take a little Rhode trip over).
Everything is made fresh while you wait via a wood fired oven that’s attached to the end of the trailer and situated in a screened in “porch” area.
It doesn’t get any better than THAT, amirite?

'Tis the season for rooftop bars...
I mean, Newport this time of year is everything!
And is there a better reason to motor over to the City By The Sea than the opening of Top of Newport, the stunning open air space at the tippity top of The Viking?
I think not.
In case you haven't heard, Top of Newport is opening for the season this weekend and it’s gonna be the place to kick off Memorial Day.
More reasons why you need to take your inner circle or significant other to the Top of Newport at The Viking?

If you’re planning on heading over to Green Animals Topiary Garden this summer and want to grab lunch before or after, we found a place that has delectable food and some nice picnic table seating.
Before we dive into Blue Anchor Grill, let me just say that if you’re searching various apps on your phone, you’re most likely going to be shown eateries in Tiverton or Little Compton.
Now we’ve explored both of those towns and really wanted to stay in Portsmouth and find a terrific lunchtime spot. (If you’re interested in a FANTASTIC restaurant for DINNER, here’s one I’ve celebrated a number of ..read more

From The Latte And Pastry Menu At Apothica Cafe In Cumberland
This enchanting cafe on Dexter Street in Cumberland (Rhode Island) open since 2020 got its start serving up a variety of specialty coffee, tea, and matcha drinks.
Now flash forward to Spring 2023, and applause, applause…Apothica Cafe has expanded.
They now offer a delectable selection of plant-based baked-in-house goodies (their Crogel, a cross between a bagel and a croissant, is pictured below and is a new favorite) as well as breakfast and lunch items including the creamy and delightful Mac & Cheese I sampled the other day. Y ..read more

I recently had a late lunch at this great looking restaurant on George Washington Highway in Smithfield.
The sleek modern decor and extensive menu say big city experience and eats. (It’s somewhere you would expect to stumble on in PVD, NPT, or Boston.)
And the staff who waited on me the other day was so helpful and friendly.
I opted for their veggie burger with a side of their chopped slaw because I don’t eat meat, but if you do they have plenty of plates, large and small, that you’ll enjoy.
Also had an inspired sip, a lavender lemonade.
But back to the handhelds…you can build your own ham ..read more

When I say Charlestown (Rhode Island), the first place that might come to mind is the Fantastic Umbrella Factory.
Or Galapagos boutique, which ultimately gave rise to Dave’s Coffee. (The son of those founders — wife and husband team Sandra & David Lanning — and a partner has opened Little City Coffee & Kitchen in Downtown Providence now too by the way.)
Or maybe that favorite beach that for obvi reasons, you don’t want absolutely everyone finding out about, lest you won’t be able to secure a spot for your blanket and umbrella going forward.
Well, here are 5 more marvelous spots in the ..read more
