Ideas for Decorating A Small Bedroom in the Eaves
Bright Bazaar Blog

It has been six years since I last decorated our guest bedroom. It’s located in the eaves of our cape cod style cottage, so it’s quite small and has slanting attic-like ceilings with a really cute dormer window. I love rooms like this as they feel so cozy and remind me of my childhood spent in my gran’s thatched cottage in England. It was built in the 1500s and so all the doors and ceilings were low and the angles wonky. That’s why cute little bedrooms like this bring back good memories. Plus, I enjoy the challenge of decorating characterful spaces rather than huge boxy rooms. I really leaned ..read more

Today I’m sharing three decor items that I think every kitchen should have, these will help make your kitchen feel warm and inviting (On some links I earn an affiliate for the sale): Table Lamp  A table lamp (1) is a fantastic addition to any kitchen surface. First and foremost, it adds warmth and texture. Kitchens often feature hard, shiny surfaces, so a lamp with a soft shade is the perfect way to introduce coziness. Additionally, a table lamp provides excellent task lighting. Personally, I prefer using a low-wattage bulb, such as a night light bulb, to keep a gentle glow when I’m no ..read more

Choosing an exterior paint color for your house can be really tough, right? You want your home exterior to be so many things: smart, clean, current, eye-catching, welcoming, to name just a few. It can be hard to balance these things: if you go too clean or smart, it leaves the home feeling cold, but if you go too bold the colors can make the home look like a theme park ride. All my tips and these views are my own but this post is sponsored by my friends at DURA. I love DURA paint because their colors are well curated. Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of choice but not too many colors that ma ..read more

How Designers Hide Smart Home Tech
Bright Bazaar Blog

Let’s get real: smart home tech is a staple feature in most households. Personally, I love it! From being able to remotely change the temperature to following along with a recipe while I cook, it helps streamline my life. However, smart home tech doesn’t always fit with my design aesthetic; I won’t lie, no matter how helpful it is, I don’t want to see it! There are a bunch of great design options and colors on the market now, however, if, like me, you have some spaces in your home that are heritage in style then a modern device just doesn’t fit.  Also, I think technology works best when y ..read more

My calming, California garden retreat
Bright Bazaar Blog

This year I was so happy to be one of the 12 designers for the second annual show house called Living by Design. I had the pleasure of designing the front entry and backyard. My goal was to create a calming, California-meets-Mediterranean retreat that encapsulated that easy-breezy, barefoot feeling of being on vacation but in your own private garden. I hope this gives you some California garden inspiration. Through my designs I blend the convenience and comfort of American design with the ease and charm of European styles, with lots of zones and cozy break out areas, such as the conversation c ..read more
