After a wrenching sequence of holes that saw his one-shot lead tied on the 16th and lost on the 17th, the 32-year-old Canadian holed a short putt for birdie Sunday at the par-5 finisher to win his first PGA TOUR title in 74 starts. Former Canadian Open Champion, CBS announcer Peter Oosterhuis dies at 75

CHARLOTTE, NC: Peter Oosterhuis, a two-time winner of the European Tour money title who later brought his distinguished British voice to CBS golf telecasts as an analyst, died Thursday. He was 75. The PGA Tour announced his death without listing a cause, though Oosterhuis had retired from broadcasting in 2014 with early onset Alzheimer’s disease. Oosterhuis won seven times on the European Tour, twice at the French Open, and his lone PGA Tour victory was the Canadian Open in 1981 when he beat Jack Nicklaus, Andy North and Bruce Lietzke by one shot. Ontario golf loses a legendary role model as Sam Young dies at 83

On Saturday April 27, Sam Young passed away at the age of 83 years old as the result of a severe stroke.  He was born in Scotland on August 4, 1941 Sam began working in the golf business in the mid-1960s as a caddy for Jack Littler, the Head Professional at Oakdale Golf Club. He shared the Pro shop staff quarters with George Knudson. In 1966, he played the Canadian Tour cashing 11 out of 15 cheques. In 1967, he qualified to play the Canadian Open but when he arrived to hit his first tee shot, his hands were swollen and painful with arthritis, forcing him to retire from the Tour.
