Busy month as ever, running dogs in earnest looking for the best temperatures and lots of fun training with friends, mixing our dogs up on the passenger rig to run two ten dog teams, a veteran team and a younger team, short lighter, faster runs in the forest and of course regular free runs and walks keeping the dogs physically fit, mentally stimulated and content.  We attended our first race since the pandemic which coincided with the 25th Anniversary of the first BSHRA race, Racing for us generally involves a 10 hour round trip to get the best trails, we feel life is too short for our ..read more

With the cooling down of temperatures and lower humidity we now start running our dogs in earnest, we like to get out and about for four training runs a week and we enjoy camping out and running at night and in the early mornings catching the best windows on the Plain.  Flups have been enjoying leader training taking it it turns to lead up front with an experienced dog, they were making such excellent progress, we decided to run them together in lead (pic above) brilliant on their turns and hard driving. So proud of them. The dogs are building some really nice conditioning and at the en ..read more

07.09.07 - 08.10.21 Winterdance Dezent Snik at Demoneira. When the opportunity came for Snik to join our family with his brother at four years old it was a no brainer. Excellent pedigree, honest worker, beautiful temperament, incredibly handsome and a dog that would help us mere humans progress our love of running dogs and continue the education. Snik transitioned quickly to life as a house dog with his own dedicated sofa and showed us the incredible drive and attitude of an excellent working dog that was a joy to have around. Not only teaching us, he was a brilliant role model for all our ..read more

When you live with dogs that sadly do not live as long as we do we inevitably have incredibly sad times when a family member passes. This month was our beautiful girl Laika. We knew the day was coming sooner than we hoped after her cancer diagnosis but not this soon. We are heart broken. Our beautiful girl is now at peace and joins Snak, Hux and Shyla who I’m sure met her with open paws over rainbow bridge and are looking after her now and causing mayhem. Laika was a fabulous girl, you could run her in any position and she would always give 100% . She led a very full life with lots ..read more

Too humid to run dogs down South so we have all been enjoying free runs and had a brilliant camping trip along the River Thames with the Alaskan Malamute Working Association with all the dogs where they enjoyed lots of lovely walks and holiday treats.  It's always a funny time of year for us as everything we do is geared to running dogs and looking out for the best temperatures and the inevitable admin that goes with keeping lines and harnesses clean and fitting work around the best dog running times so we almost feel a little lost and restless when the temps make it difficult to run do ..read more

June has been a busy month and we have had some cracking cool runs running as the sun rises! This does involve obsessively checking the forecast for windows of opportunity but the windows are there if you are prepared to look for them and we have had some nice 3 degree temps down South and aided with the kestrel weather meter making sure the humidity, temp and heat stress level is tickety boo for the dogs and we have had some very jolly runs. Flups are running regularly in a big team and super pleased with their no fuss progress. Magpie flup likes wildlife but the other dogs are very experie ..read more

Wet May

May has been an extraordinarily wet and humid month, however we have had some brilliant runs with the dogs and the pups have enjoyed their first runs on the passenger rig in a bigger team for the next training stage of their life as a sleddog.  This team consists of a 12 years old, 2x 10 year olds, 2x 7 year olds and 4 year old and of course the pups. Mars is the only male on the team. The passenger rig allows lots of control on the speed and is a brilliant tool for building conditioning and stamina. We have two retired male sled dogs, Snik who is almost 14, he's a bit wobbly on his bac ..read more

Lockdown has now lifted to allow self contained overnight stays and this is where all the hard work of making our van a moving home for dogs and humans comes to play! We can do our favourite thing of camping and training which is bliss after a dreary winter. We are still running as normal, big passenger rig runs along Salisbury Plain and splitting teams up to team puppy training and team veteran on forest trails. Pups are 11 months and doing really well. Below is a short clip of our four teams, happy, healthy and living their best lives! As well as lots of lovely runs, we have built new pla ..read more

Spring Equinox

Months seem to be blurring into one during this last lock down, life hasn't really changed work, run dogs, rest, repeat. But Spring is now here to brighten the days up and there is end of the 'lockdown' tunnel in sight so hopefully we can plan some camping and training adventures soon! The pups are over 10 months and doing well so it's the next stage for them now and it has been time to add them to a four dog team on a 3 wheeler with excellent mentors, Mars, Zinny and kara. We aren't worried about distance right now with them so a casual, controlled 1.5 miles, although it's not an 'easy' 1.5 ..read more
