Hey guys, I was wondering if you have any recommendations for DC comics I should read? The only actual DC comics I’ve ever read are Watchmen, Doomsday Clock, V for Vendetta and Batman: The Killing Joke. Which I all very much enjoyed expect the latter… It just didn’t click for me. Other comics I’ve read which I absolutely love are: Invincible, The Boys, The Walking Dead, Thor by Jason Aaron and Planet Hulk. So do you think there are any DC comics or stories I’d like? Thanks! submitted by /u/Jazzlike-County-2783 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I’m thinking of downgrading my DCs Absolute to deluxe formats.

I have done this in the past for Swamp Thing by Alan Moore in Absolute format and the Black Hammer library edition to get the softcovers and I am very happy with my choice. But I have doubts about the quality of the deluxe ones for Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Killing Joke and DC New Frontier. If you own them, what do you think of these deluxes? I’m going to keep Superman for all seasons and Batman Year One because there is no deluxe available. Generally speaking, what do you think about Absolute / fancy formats ? Did you already downgraded some collected edition? I am curious ? submitted by /u ..read more

I am trying to find a graphic novel that i vaguely remember from my childhood. i couldn’t read too well during that time so unfortunately i have a vague idea of the plot and it was almost 15-18 years ago that i read it. It’s main protagonist is a teenage girl, at least i think she was a teen, with possibly orange to light brown hair. the setting was really cool, it was a fantastical space setting. she traveled planet to planet but the world building was very fantasy like. she also had a giant corgi companion. and i’m pretty sure she fought some really big scary evil dude in the end. that’s ab ..read more

Is there a "technical term" in "Fiction Writing" for what Stan Lee,Roy Thomas and other editors are doing in Marvel Comics? Where they "embellish" mundame things through "superlative adjectives" but also through graphic design...etc.

Hey guys, So I started writing comics, screenplays and novels. I noticed in some comics particulary Marvel Comics from the late 70's to 80's. I'll add that I am a fan of the Marvel and comic book style, since I feel feel EC Comics have also used in their horror books. I'm trying to it out what is this "style." I guess in some forms of Literary or Realistic Fiction" people will describe something like it was a "plain box, brown and had a hard surface." While in Comics it might be, "it was an ancient box, remakable in composition, anyone who looked at it tremble in awe." Also the drawings seem ..read more
