At our November edition of YFood Tech Wednesdays we were joined by Emilie Vanpoperinghe, Co-founder & CEO, Oddbox, who we were super excited to welcome back to YFood events.
Oddbox, is a mission-led startup that rescues the ‘too odd’, and ‘too many’ fruit and veg at risk of going to waste. Founded in 2016, the business has distributed over 5 million boxes, with its community rescuing a combined 30,000 tonnes of fresh fruit and veg. The Belgian startup Alberts, who launched the world’s first fully-automated smoothie vending machine, have received a financial injection of 2.5M EUR (£2.2M ) to scale their business model internationally. Exciting news from our Founding Members!
CCEP Ventures has shared their latest investment activity with YFood, a collaboration with the University of California, Berkeley (UCB) to develop scalable methods of converting captured CO2 into sugar.
Their initial investment with UCB will support the Peidong Yang Research Group on foundational research which will focus on enabling the production of sugar from CO₂ on site and at an industrial level, with expectation of future investments to drive scale – from lab to pilot phase.
