During the Civil Rights Movement, did violent protest help the movement to an extent?

I'm wondering if there were any examples throughout the Civil Rights Movement where violent protest or something of that sort actually did achieve social reform. The majority of articles I come across only really talk about non-violence being the key to reform, but I haven't come across any articles that have actually recognized any violent protests that did do the movement good. What is your guy's take on the extent it did help and have you seen any articles that do talk about this? submitted by /u/Sea_Platform3076 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

What would you do if you found yourself in my situation? Would you accept this injustice as normal or the usual?? Or would you fight knowing that your voice alone won't be enough to bring justice, while continuing to ask the public for help or networking connections for contacts that can possibly help expose Arizona's racial discrimination legal system practices?? Comments and advice are welcomed please chime in while sharing this content and if you can’t help hopefully this message will reach a proactive, committed, willing person who is interested in this cause. submitted by /u/WJMcelroy24 ..read more
