Quirky Lost Spirits Distillery Closing at Off-Strip Area 15

We never quite knew what to make of Lost Spirits Distillery at Area 15, which may have been part of the problem. The venue, which included the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea restaurant as well as an immersive circus-type-thingy, will close April 29, 2024. The culprit? Poor management. Sorry, officially? The company says it can’t “claw its way” out of the “immense debt accumulated in recent years,” presumably because of the pesky pandemic. This is not Lost Spirits Distillery. There are fish in the lights! Bryan Davis of Lost Spirits Distillery says the venue welcomed 250,000 guests and served up ..read more

So much downtown news, so little time. The popular Nacho Daddy, just off Fremont Street, has moved. Thankfully, fans won’t have trouble finding it, as it only moved a dozen feet to the north. In the works in the former Nacho Daddy space? Glitter Gulch Tiki Bar. We popped in for a construction update. It’s not just nachos. Or daddies. Nacho Daddy has been a downtown favorite for years, perhaps best-known for its scorpion shots, flaming fajitas and hangovers. Nacho Daddy says it has sold more than 50,000 scorpion shots since the restaurant opened in 2010. When we find pests in our home, we gentl ..read more

Trevi Italian Restaurant Closes Abruptly at Forum Shops

Trevi Italian Restaurant, a longtime Strip mainstay, has closed permanently at the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. Our sources at Caesars Entertainment say the restaurant space will be replaced with a two-story retail concept. That’s sort of the whole story, but we’re going to add some additional fluff as an excuse to share our incredible photography. Trevi in Italian means “three roads,” or the number of open roads in Las Vegas during F1. Trevi was part of the Landry’s family of restaurants, the company owned by Tilman Fertitta, who also owns Golden Nugget. Trevi was conceived by the Morton’s ..read more

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville to Close at Flamingo

A longtime fixture at Flamingo Las Vegas, Margaritaville restaurant, is set to close this summer. Margaritaville opened at Flamingo in 2003. For two decades, Margaritaville has been a triumph of vibe and Jimmy Buffett’s brand over, you know, quality and value. Over time, Margaritaville has wasted away, and now Las Vegas will do what it does best, make something new. This parrot is no more. He has ceased to be. He’s expired and gone to meet his maker. He’s a stiff, bereft of life, he rests in peace! He’s kicked the bucket, he’s shuffled off his mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the b ..read more

Caesars Palace to Get Tortazo From Chef Rick Bayless

Caesars Entertainment has snagged yet another celebrity chef partner for a collaboration, Rick Bayless. We are not personally familiar with Rick Bayless, but the Internet says he’s a celebrity, so we’re playing along. The chef’s new place, Tortazo, will open in the Caesars Palace food court later this year. Sorry, Forum Food Hall. Caesar was ripped. Bayless will also open Tortazo at Harrah’s Joliet, but that is not Las Vegas, so who gives a crap? (Worth noting: The concept will be a full-fledged restaurant in Joliet.) Here’s the description of Tortazo, “Inspired by Mexico City’s gracious hospi ..read more

Rio Consummates Relationship With Hyatt, Announces New Luckley Tavern

Things are moving fastly and furiouser at Rio as the resort reinvents itself under relatively new ownership, Dreamscape. Rio is now part of the Hyatt family of hotels, a big deal for the resort, especially given Hyatt’s massive customer database. Rio also announced the replacement for its All-American Bar & Grill, a new concept called Luckley Tavern & Grill. Tough to say, spell and remember, but we’re up for anything new and shiny. Hyatt is an Old English name meaning “lofty gate.” Members of the World of Hyatt loyalty club can now earn and redeem points for stays at Rio. Rio is in the ..read more

“DiscoShow” Gets Opening Date at Linq, From Makers of “Absinthe”

We try to avoid feeling atingle, but the announcement of an opening date for “DiscoShow” has us experiencing some serious atingulation. “DiscoShow,” from the producers of “Absinthe” and “Atomic Saloon,” opens July 27, 2024. Disco is life, so we can’t wait for the much-anticipated opening of this new show and its adjoining restaurant, Diner Ross. Trust us, fellow youths, disco was fleek AF. Seriously, youths, a lot of your best music has a disco vibe. We barely know what a Doja Cat is, but her song, “Say So” has disco written all over it. “Stupid Love” by Lady Gaga? Disco. “Dynamite” from BTS ..read more

Resorts World to Open Copper Sun Hot Pot Spot

Resorts World is adding another concept to its already expansive restaurant line-up: Copper Sun. Copper Sun opens this summer in The District (sort of a shopping and dining promenade) at Resorts World. It will be across from Wally’s, and appears to bump up against Viva restaurant. We’ve got all the exclusive details! And by that, of course, we mean, “We skimmed the news release.” Resorts World would not be mad if this restaurant draws more gamblers from Asia. Or, you know, Palace Station. Copper Sun comes from the folks behind the Happy Lamb Hot Pot chain. The founder of the Happy Lamb Hot Pot ..read more

If you don’t spend a lot of time online (especially on Twitter), you probably live a life of bliss and mental wellbeing. You also may have missed “Nachogate.” Nachogate has broken the Internet, and we have all the details, as we were one of the people who enabled the breakage. It’s a story both confounding and profound, a story both about Las Vegas but also the world we currently live in. It’s a story of nachos and social media virality and copious WTF and happy endings. Sort of our sweet spot, so let’s go. Inside baseball: Any story where we use a featured image of something exploding gets mo ..read more

Stack Restaurant Closes Permanently at Mirage

Stack permanently closed at Mirage a couple of months ago, but we missed the memo, so you’re hearing about it now because we needed something to write about today so Casino.org thinks we actually do something. Stack closed in Nov. 15, 2023, just before F1. We first heard about the closure from @360Vegas. Stack was best known for being one of the few Las Vegas restaurants we never went to. Never went there, but we take photos of everything, just for such occasions. We trust no new concept will come to this space prior to Mirage becoming Hard Rock Las Vegas. (The Stack space is still available f ..read more
